Same hood I'm running and everything fit fine so I don't see why it wouldn't with yours.

I have a VFN 3" SS and a lid. Slight cutting to the car to hold the filter, but no hood modification needed.

Ultra Z hood as well as the Suncoast Z style Ram Air hoods (looks like a firehawk hood but for a camaro) both fit with no trimming from what I've seen on other's cars.

Yup, I've seen your posts before and that's what sold me on the hood, so huge thanks.

Good luck finding an Ultra Z hood and I'm not a fan of the Suncoast Z (plus both those hoods are probably going to be more expensive than the Trufiber hood), but yeah, I've heard they should both clear as well.

That, and you decided not to use the lid base / LS1 upper radiator support.

Mind posting more pics of your car with that hood?

McCauleyWB- How much cutting and how did you get to clear the lid from hitting the flat area of the VFN SS hood? I hate to give up this hood just to do the LS lid. But having the LS box assembly makes for a cleaner install.

I think that harwood that has the wide cowl could fit a lot better. If you can wait a few months, be happy to let you try it all out and bolt it on and see if it works.
I was also looking at the wide VFN Sunuco, Larry also said that the hood needed some cutting as well.

I've always felt the same about using the LS1 radiator support giving a clean, factory looking install, but I have to say that McCauley's conversion really looks neat. It still looks like it could be almost factory. Just instead of looking exactly like an LS1 setup it looks like a combination of it and the Firehawk/WS6 setup where their airbox sits on top of the LT1 radiator support.

True. There are many others who go the same route. I really don't care for the look of the LS1 radiator support and there is no need to have that monstrosity in there...especially when it has the added benefit of more hood choices. If you are fond of the LS1 support, I have seen a write-up on how to cut it down significantly to fit as well.

I have pics of the install I can post when I get home. The only cutting needed was the portion where the lid actually overlaps. Aside from leaning the radiator back a bit more (AC condenser has been removed) there was no other modification necessary. It clears the hood just fine. This is not my car, but it is the same part I cut out.

Thanks. The write up in the link is very thorough and easy to follow. But, I would really like to utilize the LS radiator support w/ the lower box in order to incorporate the Chrss1313 ram air kit. I've consulted VFN and Glasstek, and it seems their pin on hood will definitely have better clearance since it will not have all the underside bracing, especially in the front cowl area.

I didn't notice anything after my lid swap until I put the SLP ram air kit on, so that ram air kit should really wake it up. Even the SLP kit was a huge SOTP improvement over the FRA.

I'm pretty sure the "ultra z" hoods clear an ls1 lid setup just fine.

Im not a big fan of them, but they are about the closest thing to a ram air hold a camaro.

Depends on how much work you want to do. I have an LS1 lid under my stock SS hood with no cutting to the hood at all. All the work was done to the core support.

Are you using the LS lower air box/radiator support?

I had to trim my glasstek 4" cowl. Just slightly open up behind the latch to the lids width. The lid base/rad support had to be cut down a lot. I don't know if I had a ws6 box or something to begin with but it was a bitch.

That is why I'm probably going to towards a pin on hood, no bracing under there, just the skin.
