Default What aftermarket hood clears an LS1 lid swap?

Which or what aftermarket hood clears the ls1 lid without any cutting on the car or the hood? Any info and/or pics is greatly appreciated. Thank you

Had the standard VFN Sunoco hood with an LS1 lid. Required little bit of cutting though. Not sure if the wide would be any different, being that I don't think it is actually wider, but just longer/taller (extends to windshield). I could be wrong...

^ The VFN sunuco has to be cut as well, huh. I don't think I want to spend $500 for a hood, then cut it.

Not if it's an LT1 SS hood. I have the VFN3"SS hood(For sale soon) and it's flat as a board up front.

It did not need to be cut that much, I kind of went to town on it since I wasn't sure exactly where it was hitting. It turned out to just be one small spot on each side. I don't blame you for not wanting to cut it. I cringed when I did it...

^That's good to know, thanks. Btw, what lid is that you have on your car? Some are bigger than others. And your hood really looks nice on your car.

Thanks! I just recently sold the car :/ It is a Whisper lid. Seems to be a bit shorter than others.

I wouldn't trust the hood latch with all that bracing cut away.

Do you think the Glasstek 4" cowl have enough clearance without cutting anything?
Anyone running the Glasstek 4" cowl with the Ls1 air lid?

I am running a glasstek 4" hood with the SLP lid. Unfortunately the glasstek has to be trimmed too.

So no cutting with this hood Joe? Did you do the LS1 lid with your set up?

I think it depends on the base and how far you slide the radiator towards the engine, slide it forward and use a stock Z28 lower box and trim it enough i bet you could get away without trimming.

Butch - I haven't done the lid conversion yet, but that's the plan. I'll let you know how the hood fits, shooting for next month.

Butch - The VFN sunoco (regular will not fit and will need to be cut 100%. I have one and I had to cut it pretty good. However, without LS1 lid, it fits fine. I also have the SLP lid and I never got it to sit quite right.

I think that harwood that has the wide cowl could fit a lot better. If you can wait a few months, be happy to let you try it all out and bolt it on and see if it works.
