According to my (now retired) inside guy at GM, the ramps on the "hot" cam are slow to keep valve train noise below GM corporate decibel levels. Faster ramps to make more power. If I remember correctly, Crane did that work for them. LT1 heads don't need that much duration spread either. With headers the Comp 218-224 will kick the "hot" cam's butt. Faster ramps which also make more power, but too noisy for GM's noise police. I don't know any better, so used 106 LSA cams in mine. My 350" only likes 4 degrees more exhaust lobe.

So I've got 93 camaro with 3.73 gears on a built 4l60 with a 2500stall (but i might be upgrading to a 3500 soon), twin 58 mm Holley tb, hooker super comp headers with cutouts, msd, 1.6 crane gold rockers, and ill get my tune reflashed after the cam install, and yes it's my dd all summer. I'm thinking about doin the cc503 but I don't want to be clear up in the 6400 rpm range to get in the power band, not on a stock bottom end with 90,000 hard miles. With the gear, what is a good cam to get in that max power range around 6000-6200 rpms? And i plan on getting springs and lifters with a new cam for stock lt1 heads.

And I just went to look up the cc503 cam to check price... Is this the right one?
The duration looks right but I thought the lift 0.537/0.544

You will make good power at 6200 with the cc503 and your mods. Sure it would pull up to 6400 fine, but you can stick to a 6200 shift point and won't notice the difference unless you are at the track and using a timeslip to compare that last 200 rpm. If that matters alot to you.....run it on up to 64 or 6500 for a couple passes on you track outings. It's a SBC....people have been revving them with stock bottom ends for over half a century. I'd probably even stick with your 90,000 mile lifters if they are still quiet and pass a good visual and hands-on inspection. I see more lifter problems with newer ones. LOL

That's it. The .503"/.510" lift is with the stock rocker ratio of 1.5:1.
