Why is that? Just curious.. If you're looking for performance, not that a catback provides that much, isn't the least restriction best? Obviously, as long as it's not too loud for you and the system is maintaining enough backpressure..

there is a dyno video of an lt1 convert on youtube with the borla on fully closed and wide open with no change in power at all, so swap em around for whatever sound you want and be happy.

when i had the borla with fully open throttle, my car was generally quite jad a nice growl throughout the rpm range..... switching to the slp(the flange on mine rusted and fell apart when i went to switch the platees anyways and i wasn't original owner of exhaust)

It's more for sound. Mine has been wide open for a very long time and the bolts have rusted with it that way. You could add in an electric cut-out specific to the Borla exhaust and adjust it however you like from inside if you wanted...

I guess if you already have it though, the cost isn't an issue.

Meh, sounds too raspy for me personally. It's not the volume so much as the sound quality. Sounds like a $900 SLP Loudmouth which isn't a good thing IMO. Plus like I said if you're gonna bypass the catback, why not just get a Magnaflow or Hooker for 1/2 or less the price and buy a cutout?

The cutout is too far back to make in decent increse in power. Mine dyno'd 4RWHP going to wide open from closed. The Borla cutout is for sound only. Cutouts for making power work best much closer to the front. I have mine about 18" behind the header collectors and the gains are very noticable.

Ws6.com has dynos of the different plates. There were two plates that made more power but its negligible. I have mine fully closed and love it more than I thought I would. With it open on cold start, it would sound like a gattling gun. Closed its just a low deep all the time.

I had a borla muffler and a electric cut out. The electric cut out flange kept breaking off and rattlling in the exhaust so I did away with all of it and just did a dump with powerstick muffler. Havent looked back since
