So if I change them I don't gain hp what are the benefits..???

If valve float is the reason why your engine doesn't make horsepower past 6000 rpm then the valve springs should help you reduce or eliminate the valve float and allow you to use the camshaft to its full potential.

not so much a hp gain, you might get some from it if you have valve float and it's not making the power up top. It's more for safety to rev that high, those lt4 springs are not known for being very strong.

I think and don't quote me as I've never done it, but should be able to just put the springs in and shim them to proper height etc.

I have that thread bookmarked. If there's one thing I've learned is that when the people with knowledge speak it's best to listen.

Last year I was shifting my hotcam at 6k with the LT4 springs. Over the winter I installed some PAC1212x springs and am going to see if 6200 gives a improvement. I had the madtuner set my rev limiter at 6400, I wish I had maybe gone with 6500.

I've got SLP 1 3/4 single cat mid length headers with a cut out where the cat was, LPE cai, hotcam with stock stamped 1.5 rockers, PAC1212x valve springs, LT4 KM, Madtuner tune. Hurst shifter and Strange Dana 60 4.10 rear. 120k miles, heads never been off engine.

I've run a bunch of 13.4s @ 107x with a best mph of 107.93.
Those times where with the LT4 valve springs which gave some valve float at 6k rpm and my old 10 bolt w/4.10s and a worn out posi on street tires.

I'm waiting to get some more break-in miles on the S60 before I head back to the Grove. Hoping to break into the 12s......

Default Add Trans shop info

Man, as far as your trans, I talked to a guy I work with and he thought you have a 700r4 which were used in trucks and other vehicles up to '94. I would think if this info is correct you could find a good used one or get yours overhaulded fairly easily.

Another guy I work with had the trans in his '87(?) Corvette that he drag races repaired for slipping 1-2 shift at this place in Woodstock and he is very happy with them.

Give them a call.

Tom
