Default Went to the track Is my car a dog..?

Is my car a dog cause everyone I talked to at the track said it was.. It's a 93 z28 with a k&n cai bbk 58mm tb with tb bypas stock heads milled 1.6 rocker a lt4 hot cam 160 Thermostat mid length stainless headers borla cat back with cut cat electric cut out a 2800 stall and a shift kit and dyno tune,.. The tires that I was using was not very sticky there all season tires so I was launching off idle with the cut out open and when i got there my trans was super hot so it was slipping into 2nd with a 1.9 60 foot and ran a 13.1 at 103 Is that right..??

i'm no expert but i know people have gotten close to those times with bolt ons, i would say with a good tire you should be runing 12.5ish? like i said im no expert, also i'm sure a lot of people are going to tell you that the 58mm throttle body is hurting you especially with stock heads.

It doesn't feel that fast to me to be a 12.5 car even with tires.. And that's the way I bought it with all of those parts on there I just dyno tuned it

What numbers did it make?

Launching off idle and a slipping trans are not helping at all

I know but if I would even launch it like 1500 Rpm it would roast the tires like really bad with a 2.1 2.2 60 foots the dyno numbers was 302 rwhp and 310 rtq I didn't have a cut out or tb bypass at the time so idk what the numbers are with that stuff added

Get some 15in wheels and mount some drag radials on them. Then again, how far do you want to go, which really means are you ready to start breaking stuff..heh.

Doesn't sound bad to me then with a slipping trans. Do you know what the DA was?

In my mind you are putting down about what a stock ls1 makes, and running about what they run. you should have 12's with a tire and no slip

Actually my cousins have a few stock ls1's and I was beating them they ran a best run of 13.5 and they had a air kid exhaust and a tune

With a cam and stall you only trapped 2 mph higher than my car, and I thought mine ran rather bad with just bolt ons at 13.6 @ 101. With better tires and a non slipping trans 12's should be easy.

Like was said the slipping trans can't be helping your mph. I think you need to fix that before you'll truly know if you have a dog or not.

Get a trans, bigger stall and a sticky tire.

I'd say that's right on par according to your Dyno numbers. The HP numbers are a little lower than i've seen with a hotcam though.

For example, my bolton '93 did a 13.4@104 with 3:73's, LT's, and exhaust and dyno'd 294/323. Mines a 6-speed though.

That car has a lot more in it, You should easily run a 12.5-7 with good tires, a better stall, and a good trans.

The Grove is a nice track and at that temp I'm sure something is off. Like stated above have the trans checked and while it's out have the converter reflashed and get a good tire on back.

With the transmission slipping the times you ran almost mean nothing. With a good transmission you should be quicker, bolt on cars run that and a bit quicker. So get your transmission repaired and see what she will really do for you.....
