Your compression should be around 12:1, my guess is the builder used stock thickness gaskets but there's only 1 way to find out, by pulling them. Going to an 0.026 gasket could bump you to around 11.8 which would be much better by keeping compression on a larger cam. Even your hotcam or custom LPE or whatever you have would greatly benefit from higher compression. With reverse flow cooling we can run up to around 13:1 with a good tune on 93 pump gas. Pcm4less will email you a tune if you buy an aldl cable and download the free software and load it yourself, and will give free retuned for 6 months I think if you don't change heads/cam anything major. Just get a wide band or strap it to a dyno with air/fuel measurement and send results to Brian and he will update your tune and send it back to you.

I would sooner suspect .039 Felpros than stock, and if the compression is that low with them you have less opportunity to improve it

Nice to see this thread turned around for once. Does not happen all that often here. You could use a feeler gauge at the front of the block/head and measure the thickness. I don't remember all your specs but you could also use a light and mirror with a plug pulled and see if it at least has flat tops in it. Might be helpful in determining the cr.

And if you do the cam swap you would have access to measure the thickness with the intake off

With the pressures and responsibilities of a family it is more important to get things right because mistakes can price you right out of the hobby.

I get the kids thing, two small ones here too. Hoping I can use little hands to reach bolts I can't in coming years.

My dad did that to me when I was young.....

Made me a better man by learning a trade, but I never liked it as a kid.
