Default 9's are in my grasp!!!!!! (videos inside)

well this has been an interesting season so far.

setup is stock short block, emissions cam, stock heads with appropriate valve springs, self aligning 1.6 ebay rockers, single plane and a cxracing gt4508r 80mm turbo.

the first motor was out of an impala found out the hard way the rods arent up to par as the F body rods lol 3rd pass of its life snapped #6 beam in half shot it out the oil pan.

well wednesday we slapped another motor in, 160k F body bottom end. took her up and let her eat!

first pass off the trailer 10.51 @ 131 running out of gear at 1000ft on 15.5 psi.

<iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/video/embed?video_id=10151523744403682" width="1280" height="720" frameborder="0"></iframe>

made a few 1/8th mile passes and grabbed a best of a 6.533 @ 110 with a 1.511 60'

last pass of the night decided to go for one full 1/4 pass and see how far i could stretch it before i run out of gear . . .

got to the staging lanes and the officials said i was going too fast and that this would be my last pass they were going to let fly.

so i went for it, turned the boost up to 19 psi= 1.540 60' led to a 10.38 @ 118 running out of gear right after the 1/8th mile stretched it to the 1000ft and hit the brakes to bring rpm down.

DA that night was 7090ft altitude. car ran really well, never had one issue didnt even open the hood! could have driven it home.

ordered new gears so i will be back up next wednesday to see if i can get this thing into the 9's at altitude!

Congrats, those times for a stock long block are stout even for sea level let alone Mountain air.

First nice run
But have to say u will have to push more than 20lbs to get those 9s or lose weight on the car
Many stock lt1 with trans and rear end will run those times on spray
I would say invest in a nice short block then push it to the limits
I don't see to many boost passes on that stock lt1

My boosted setup was with a 383 afr heads and a s475 race 4l60 and stock 10 bolt running 9.2

U will need more boost to run 9s

something doesn't sound right. 3.23 gear and 28's should be more than enough gear to run 150+

i run a 28x10.5 with a 3.50 gear and run 153+ at just under 7k.

bullshit, the lowly b-bodies got the same exact shortblock as your magical f-body, and you have had the "new" motor in a couple days it could grenade on the next pass.

The LT1 rods changed somewhere late 94 early 95 from "pink" to PM but were not dependent on the model car the engine was going in.

easy killer, and incorrect, the impala motor has a thin goofy looking rod, completely different than the f body rod, i have both rods sitting next to each other . . . and as for my "magical" f body bottom end yes your right it could go any minute . . . so?

i only spin 6000 rpm so thats what kills the gears thing. i spun the last motor 6500 and it lasted 3 passes

I told you there are pink and PM rods but the difference was not Impala vs. f-body, hell in more than a decade on the forums and having several LT1s apart myself you are the first I have heard claim such a thing.

im not claiming anything, but compared to the bottom ends ive seen in most f bodies the impala bottom end had different rods (different design all together) weak looking, no cap reinforcement, thin beam. thats all.

heres a pic of the last bottom end, it was out of a 96 impala wagon:

only thing really different in the blocks were the heads!

Rods did change from PINK to PM but you never knew what car got them.

Ya turn up the boost and listen for detonation and watch your wideband if you have one

I would use 26" tires over 28s all day to help the turbo spool up faster and even a MT drag radial. Just curious what driveshaft do you have?
stock 10 bolt?

these dont look like pink or PM rods but who knows its trashed end of story.

i was on a radial last year had a horrible time with em, 26x10 mt radial, spun like no other did all i could to adjust suspension, not sure why but 1.8 60's were all she would do....

im on a 9" out back, and i run a 4" carbon fiber DS

wideband reads 10.7:1 all the way down the track im on c16 race gas, detonation shouldnt be too much of an issue

WIth that gear and I was making as much horsepower as you did on a conservative boost setup. It would easily 60ft in the 1.3s and it had a 275 50 15 MT drag radial

How much does your car weigh?

What rear suspension and tq arm do you have?

What are the angles they are set at?

ANY pix of your complete car and side shots showing the stance of the vehicle.

Maybe its unloading the tires off the line and causing it to spin and not plant the power to the tires with out blowing them off.
