I just went threw this a month or so ago.I was going to put a SBc instead of a LT1 engine. When you get to looking into it.It well coast you alot more money just to get it in and bolted up.Theres alot of stuff you must change.not just wiring and major stuff.the gas pedal has to be changed.you have to move that SBC just a little forward. Its tough to to do this.

I just think it's going backwards trying to drop in a carbed SBC, not to mention MULLET and PBR come to mind. IMO, you would be money ahead making an LT1 faster than trying to cobble up a standard GEN I in there. Yes the aftermarket is better for a standard SBC but you have other issues to work out before you can even drop it in. At that point, and LS is a better choice.
The hell with it...why not put a 454 and a Powerglide in it???

I was once, like many of these older guys, hard headed about anything other than a Gen-1 SBC. I blame it on my dad. That's all we worked on growing up. When I saved up my own money and bought my 94 Z/28 he said "well what are you gonna do when that thing tears up" lol. All of my LT1's are stripped down so much now that they really aren't that much different than the 350 small black in my 70 Monte carlo.
