Lightbulb LT1is Alive!!

3yrs ago I sold my 96 LT1 Z28 M6 car to my brother and bought a LS1 car as some of the older members may remember. The Engine was a 9.6:1 Golen 383 w/ LPE ported stock heads and intake. A year after my brother bought the car it developed a nasty knock! Due to funds and having another toy he was modding, the car sat for almost 2yrs. Well last winter it was resurection time. Our father helped with the new build.
The engine was pulled and we quickly found that the junk eagle crank snapped in half. So we took pics and I sent them to Chad @ Golen. Amazingly he honored the warranty I purchased with the short block 10 yrs ago. So we sent him the short block and the eagle was replaced with a Scat crank and the JE blower pistons were replaced with Mahle forged coated pieces. The rods were reconditioned, new bearings, new melling oil pumo, the block was magna fluxed and dynamically balanced. The heads were sent back to Al @ LPE and cleaned up with new valve seals, patriot dual golds were installed with Comp Stainless 1.7 rockers to top them off.
Fast forward to this past spring, the car was put back together, is now Alive and running well. Here is the mod List:

-Golen 11:5:1 383 (Scat crank, Eagle rod, Mahle -9cc piston, LT4 Chain, Melling pump)
-54cc LPE hand ported stock heads w/ ported stock intake
-58mm bbk tb
-Comp 230-236 .510 .520 114 @ 1.5 rocker ratio camshaft
-Comp Satinless 1.7 rockers
-Comp push rods
-Patriot gold dual valve springs
-Race Tronix 255 pump
-Pacesetter 1 3/4 coated headers & y
- LS1 Flowmaster Cat back w/ electric cut out
-RPM built T56
-Spec 3 clutch rebuilt by Fort Wayne clutch
-Fort Wayne clutch custom Drive Shaft
-Moser 9" with 3:90 gears
-Jegs torque arm modified by Advanced Chassis in Ohio
-BMR rear springs stock front
-KYB adjustable shocks
-17x7" Billet specialty front wheels
-15x10" Billet specialty rears wrapped in 275-50 MT dr's

- Probably a few things I am missing lol. The car still has under 50k... here are a few pics below.

Before when I owned the car:

Just wanted to add that its still running a PCM for less tune, currently he is looking into taking the car down to Cincinnati so Solomon can tune it. No dyno or Track times yet...But it has handled some 115-117mph cars pretty easily on the street. I believe his next mods are Cowl Hood, LS1 lid setup, full tune, and possibly some spray. Still debating a LS1 PCM swap...

Finally setup a account here on Tech. This is my Camaro that I bought from KingLt-1 "my brother." Since almost a year after getting the fresh motor in It has got a few upgrades.

-BMR Rear Lowering Springs
-BMR Extreme Anti Roll Bar
-VFN Sunoco Hood
-LS1 Slp Lid Setup
-Email Tuned By Solomon

I also went from 275/50/15 Mickey Thompson to 275/60/15. The 50's only lasted 2000 street miles. I like to hit it out of first quite a bit and the torque shredded the 50's. The 275/60/15's are working better for me. Car also started to wrinkle the rear quarter panels so I installed a BMR Anti Roll Bar to stiffen the car back up. The stock sway bar was not getting the job done. I love the BMR Anti Roll Bar. One of the best parts I have added to the car. All around I like the ride and it launches really nice.

Here are some updated pics.

Thanks! She has tested my patience for the first couple years I had her but now it is close to where I want it. This used to have the boosted Golen short block before going to their N/A version. Here is a idle Video of the car.

Here is a quick acceleration vid after getting a few hundred miles on the new engine. Still had a vacuum leak at the time and a couple other bugs to work out at the time. Hence the dash being lit up like Christmas.

Here was a video I made for Solomon to help tune my car. This was the second to last tune I got. I got a total of 7 tunes. He did a great job getting my car dialed in. The car has almost a perfect AFR now. It gives you a better idea what it sounds like as well. Went from about 40-120ish.

Damn that hood looks good. I've been eyeballing them for a while and this may have put me over the edge.

Thanks for the kind words. There was a good amount of work put in this car but it was worth every cut, bruise, and ache. If you do order the hood, some trimming does have to be done to the hood to make it clear the cowl. NOT A LOT, but some does for sure. Luckily there is a hell of a body guy in Decatur, Bowers Paint Studio. Bowers does all of Lingenfelter's paint work and did a hell of a job matching new paint with 18 soon to be 19 year old paint on mine.

Love seeing a clean LT1 still holding its own with serious owners. Too much ragged out junk modded without taste or pride with newbies behind the wheels nowadays, so stuff like this is refreshing.

It looks like the track is going to get rained out tomorrow. If so, I will look to go next Friday. Weather is supposed to be pretty good with a high being in the mid 60's. I will get some video to post up if I do.

I still have the Pacesetter 1 3/4 long tubes. Coating is starting to come off just in front of the merge collectors on the bottom. They might get replaced in the next year or two. The car still has Flowmaster catback but it is not the same as before with the old engine. It now actually has my brothers old catback that was on his Ls1. He gave it to me when he upgraded to the Kooks true dual setup. The inlet and outlet are 3 inch on the new muffler vs I think the old muffler being like 2 3/4 in and out. That is why I wanted to use his old catback plus it has nice stainless tips vs. my old painted style. If you are wondering how I got it to sound like it is, I have a electric cutout. If you look at the pic of the underneath of my car I have a electric cutout before it goes over the rear axle. All the videos I have posted are with the cutout open. I do have a turn down on my cutout now rather than just having it open like in the pic.
