Default 355 cfm ported and polished LT1 intake/TB

Just thought Id share some

1284 orGM LT4 gasket can use 52 or 58mm tb

When this one was flowed I had all ports and injector bungs blocked off to give an honest #.

Hand porting
More shape, measuring and taper than brute material removal
Think more can be had with less runner work and some plenum work in the right places. Just finished an LT4 thats approaching 370 with a taller/narrower port actually a little undersized to a 210 AFR head. Had a slight issue wiht the radius plate that was made so the true reading (more) well never know.
Would be fun on a healthy stroker turning some rpm (actually the LT4 is going on a 409, the LT1 up for grabs soon).
That rear wall on #8 is a flow killer. Even unblocking the opposite 2 ports only gave it 4-6 cfm addtl. GM oversized it to start with but youll need to spend more time on that one for sure. #2 seems to be the hero # port on these
Could a running engine make use of al this with the plenum turbulence I dont know it would be a game changer I think but fun to play wiht this stuff
For the time spent/result prefer the LT1.
Anyways the wheel is still round lol. Fun stuff

People have cut the back of the intake and build a "doghouse" to improve the rear distribution/flow.

That would Look Sweet with My polished aluminum valve covers on the 396 with a TPIS 58mm Tb I was thinkin about intakes for the ported Dart Pro 1 200cc heads finished right at 208cc & flow bout 311cfm with a Solid Roller cam thats good for 7200rpm in a 355 soo prolly around 6800ish in the 396 is My guess LoL
What would a Vic Jr or the EFI version of it flow??? I really want My junk to Look like an LT1 LoL I will plumb a direct port system & already have a NX MAF ends dual stage I know the LTx intakes only like 200 max before the Tb & thats why I want a DP too LoL That way 1 stage on the MAF can be 100 or 150 on a button & the other will be for say 1st gear launch at 150 then 300 on the DP kinda deal & Ive got all the MSD stuff plus the dual stage Tick controller Cam & heads arent as big as Tonys but Im not really tryin to set any records... Just have a Hard runnin & pretty quick LTx!!! Try to bury the speedo in the qtr maybe Thought about head huntin in OKC with it & seein if itll beat that Farm truck LoL
So will an intake like this do the deed???

What is a decent intake port job worth on an otherwise stock motor? A retune would be in order obviously.

Totally stock guessing probably not a whole lot this one may be kind of overkill imo but certainly not a bad starting point

I'm not into the HP game since my goals are handling and autocross. But if I could pick up a stock intake very cheap and hand port it to give worthy gains I would think about it.

If I'm looking at maybe 5hp more it's not worth the time/effort and a price for a retune.

On lbs of material removal dont know but have my doubts when I see xx lbs thats a LOT;stuff gets everywhere anyway
Its not so much how much its where for the most part. It does look like a lot though. Sounds like you got some nice headwork done curious to know the final intake runner size.

Its easy to think youre gaining area well maybe physically but flow can go backwards;however the runners are short and forgiving but you get the idea.

More ya have the more ya get...or can lose

I cut the top off of mine between the fuel rails. Allows much more access. I cut through behind the TB in a few places to get the shape like I want then welded it up. Never flowed them but the motor did make decent power
Peaked torque at 5200 rpm and peak power came in at 6800 on a 355.

Went back after this for another 4-5 hrs last night
I startd it about a yr ago found some flaws one thing led to another

Think i may have a solution for #8 without cutting the rear wall out also well see.

So its getting reflowed.

We are going to do a blow through also from the throttle body area

Hear the plenum is so bad a large # couldnt work with a simulating running engine meaning if all cyls or 1 was open. Do it just to see....

Good thing I have a day job Id never make a penny from this I never know when to stop

Have one on its way thats getting cut open to waste even more time from life.
Someone stop me!

360cfm (359.8) with all between 1.5-2%

All ports and injector bungs were blocked off so this is a true reading no cheating guessing or fluffed up bs.

Stopping here, someone adopt this thing. On to the next project

Comparable to 2 local Superflows less than 3% (3 being max)variance
Person that flowed it does quite a bit for some larger names out here (youd recognize them) so his bench has to be accurate or everyones name is mud.
Thats the internet for you.

There was a slight issue with the radius plate that was made, intake actually should go another 4-6 cfm but only claim what was actually printed out its an honest #. Cant race a bench...

Hope that answers your question

What test depression? Higher makes bigger CFM numbers.
