So I'm actually in the market for a rebuild and I'd like to go forced induction and finally swap my auto out for the t56 I've had in storage for years.
Grabbing a new block for $1,500 would be a great deal for me. It would allow me to build the new motor without having to take the old one out of the car. That's awesome. Soo, I mean, I don't see why I wouldn't consider one of these things.
I also prefer the sound and power delivery style of the ltx firing order to the sound and power delivery of the lsx firing order too. The ls guys might find it hard to believe, but I actually really like the gen 2 design. And I'd prefer to keep it when I rebuild, I think.
Sure an ls3 or ls7 build would be great, but then I'd need all sorts of electrical equipment changes to get the dash working, I'd need to scrap my ltx style t56 for an lsx style t56, which are twice the price, and I already have the lsx sub frame anticipating a swap at some point but... I'd need the lsx computer and ignition hardware and maybe even new pedals. It's too much extra crap to worry about and keep track of honestly when I have a perfectly good ltx platform I can use to make the power I want, with the sound and power delivery I prefer.
appreciate the update. I’m definitely a buyer of a aluminum version. 4.155 bore 3.75 stroke 406.

Also forgot to add, you’ll want a LS ignition anyway unless you know how to tune your LT1 and have the software to do so. You invest the several thousand dollars into this kind of engine project you will want to get it dyno tuned, which is hardly possible anymore with LT1 software.

I have big plans that hinge on this block happening or not. Thinking about going twin turbo now.

I might as well revive this thread since I didn't bother looking at it in awhile. You know nothing about me. I'm not anti-LT nor am I an LS "nutswinger". You're butthurt because I'm a voice of reason who looks at people in this thread who won't spend $1,500 on a set of Trick Flow heads and chuckles at the notion that they'd be interested in a bare aftermarket block. People still rocking 2 bolt mains, some making less power than the current Coyote or even 5.7 Hemi, and they're clamoring to finally step up? Get out of here.
Are you the "Stereotypical Optispark LT1 nutswinger" who won't admit that the market doesn't give a **** about that engine anymore and has moved on to fully embrace LS architecture?
There have been one or two realists in here, people who aren't getting ruslted by a difference of opinion. Beyond that it's people like you who simply can't understand that a company won't make money on this and it's been a dead idea for a reason. There are two LT1 4th gens in the local junkyards. One Formula, one Trans am. Not a single LT1 specific part has been taken off of either car and the T/A has stainless longtubes on it.The Formula has been in the yard for 4 months.
Meanwhile, no Silverado, Express van, Yukon, Suburban, or such can keep its 4.8, 5.3, 6.0, or 6.2. engine. Why? Because unlike LT1 stuff there's a demand.

This is all I could find, posted Jan 13th
''Hey guys. Just wanted to give an update on the block. First off thank you to everyone taking your time and asking. I've got so many people asking I couldn't possibly respond to them so I'll do it here.
Now down to business. Obviously we've had a few setbacks due to Covid. The project has made progress though. The first block has been through the foundry. There's a few changes that still need to be made but it's finally getting close. We will keep everyone posted as we get updates, and as the timeline becomes clearer we will share production projections. Due to the pandemic and lack of production consistency right now we will keep a time line off the table.
It is happening.
Thank you to everyone involved and the entire LT1 community."

I’d love to buy one right about now, even a prototype block. I just dropped a valve and cracked my block, so I need a new block right now anyway 🙂. I’d rather buy a new ready to hone and go 4.125” bore block than pay for all the machine work needed on a used block.

Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately only a select few really know what's going on. Unless something was revealed on facebook I wouldn't know. Not in any of those groups.
