As far as I know there are not any inexpensive aftermarket ones. I think the aftermarket ones are around $400 +/-. I guess if you wanted do the cheap route, you could buy a stock replacement for around $80 from Rock Auto and have the balance shop grind the cast in un-balance weight off it and neutrally balance it.
I am running a stock replacement one in mine. My machinist said glad it's not his legs next to a 6,000 RPM buzz saw. I do not disagree, but did not have the room in the budget for an aftermarket one right now.
you have 2 choices
1. have your stock FW neutral balanced for about $50
2. Buy a neutral balanced aftermarket one
Unless the car will be "primarily" a auto x car, don't go aluminum. I would also take whatever neutral balance one you buy and take it along with your PP to a machine shop and have them first confirm FW is in fact neutral then spin it with your PP and have them neutral balance that. In every case I found both to NOT be neutral balanced out of the box
I was also told by the machinist when he zero balanced my then stock GM FW the same statement Casey noted. he said when he ground off the cast in weight there were no sparks, just dust. With that said I have not heard of any stock FW becoming a buzz saw but my Machinist who does my balancing runs the McLeod sponsored IHRA funny car so he is purely a SFI guy
I run the McLeod billet FW. Ram & Center Force may also make one
