Default Need help!! EWP Relay Wiring.

See pic, i have a meziere ewp with the meziere relay for my 96 lt1 z28. Anyone have pics of how to wire this up? I gather the black wire is ground, no idea with the others.

I figure the blue wire from the ewp goes to the blue wire on the relay. The orange wire from the relay goes to the positive battery post. Question is, where does the green wire from the relay go? I read its the trigger wire for a switched source? Where could i hook that up to?

If it is the trigger wire then you can connect it to a source that goes hot with the turn of the key in the fuse box under the hood. I can't remember what I used, but you can do a search on here and cz28.com and something should come up, or poke around with a volt meter to find a hot wire only when the key is in the on position.

There should be a diagram on the relay.

Thanks guys, that helps! Would the pink wire at the coil be a good wire to tap into for the ignition trigger?

I can take a picture of the meziere ewp wiring on my 94 Z28 for you. I think the wire that turns on the ewp is tapped into the ignition wire under the fuse block.

The I/P fuse block already has a 12v ignition spade connector on it, that's what I used for the relay trigger. Leave the coil wires alone.

It's not hard to find, just look for the connector marked "IGN".

there is a source you can use on the underhood fuse box as well so you dont have to run wire into the car. i'll see if i can find it today.

Usually anything orange is ignition hot and pink is constant hot.

I can't see where the wire is connected since it is connected underneath the fuse box. I want to say I used the ABS terminal.

Here are some pictures of the ewp wiring. In the second picture the green wire runs to the red wire that is tapped into the ignition wire under the fuse block. I am going to rewire it so that green wire runs to the ignition fuse block inside the car. You will have to remove your PCM to run that wire into the car from there.

A way to do it discretely is mount the relay under the fuse block in the engine bay. I stand corrected and I just ran the switch wire from the cruise-A/C 15A fuse (stuffed the wire into the slot and pressed the fuse down into it) above and not underneath. I then routed the constant from the distribution block on the passenger side, under the radiator/cover/namefuckingescapesmeatthemoment into the relay. I then used the ground strap location on the chassis for grounds. Here's a pic of what it looks like:

OP

Often a "pink" wire is +12vdc key on. Some use the wire triggering the air pump relay...just make sure when key is on the donor wire you use...12v stays on

+12v for the pump you can use the + post where battery cable is by fuse block

I would, and do, have a inline fuse (blade type) between EWP and +12v that powers pump

I did my EWP 17 years ago so back then I just bought a painless wiring FP relay kit. You can just get a relay/fuse combo and wire it up your self also using a inline blade fuse

make sure your wiring is "solid" and not sorta, kinda, maybe stuck in something.

Thanks! Like always you guys are so much help, i got my relay from meziere with my hd pump. Should be pretty simple with all the info you guys gave me! I also bought a glow shift elite coolant gauge with a program -able high and low temperature warning lite. Hard to find a coolant gauge with a built in warning light. Don't feel like scorching the engine if the ewp decides to take an early retirement! See pics.

I ran a longer wire to driver side fuse box and taped into fuel pump wiring. Turn car to AUX, fuel pump is on/will prime and EWP will come on.

Allows you to circulate water without the car on. Add a manual fan switch and really step up your game. Go a step further with a all aluminum griffin radiator and you can literally see the temp gauge go down cooling the car off.

Plus, the instructions tell you what wire is what...on you to find a reliable ignition switched source. You can also use a 12V 30A relay "in reverse" to wire in a warning light any time the WP loses ground and or power. Only thing you won't know is if the EWP has a mechanical failure.

The fuel pump is turned on by the PCM, and only in RUN and START (only runs for 2-3 seconds when no pulses are received from the opti).

If you want to run the EWP with the ignition off, just wire a switch from 12v hot to pin 87A on the WP relay. Simple.
