factory lash is 1/2 to 1 1/2 turns...so somewhere in between is what most do

with that said I have only used factory original lifters or Comp 850's, not "LS7" lifters so don't know the plunger travel comparison between stock and LS7....but assume it is the same or very close.

Default Lifter Pre-Load with AL BLOCK

HI ALL, MY "tech" is also 1+.

This FACT is due to AL block growth.

FIGHTING this problem was CORRECT YEARS AGO !

THINK, DO NOT FLOAT the Valve Train.

THAT "tech" was for NHRA S/S class. (1/4 turn)

Its a possibility that a lot of the clatter you are hearing is the roller rockers if you have them. Lifters should be quiet even at 1/4 to 1/2 turn unless something is wrong. I have the sewing machine sound rather at 3/4 turn or 1 turn. Aftermarket valvetrain usually isnt stock silent.

yeah you would think exploding wallet, highly machined, roller needle bearing rockers would be quieter than some stamped steel riding directly on a PR...but no

at 3/4 turn mine have the "sewing machine" sound

I've always done 1/4 to 1/2 turn, but I like my valve trains a little "looser" than most.
