Mine fudged up 3 weeks ago and finally got a new window coming in. How hard is it to remove the old window and install the new one?

Easy,(i dont know your mechanical skills) but if you have a friend help you its good, its kinda heavy.

I dont know the condition of your window motor but i sugest you replace it seeing your are all ready working on the window, there are a lot of write ups and videos on youtube

I've replaced the window motor before. It is a pain in the butt. I was just wondering about the glass itself. I don't want to snap any fiberglass in the process.

Thanks !

You'll have to drill out the rivets if I remember correctly. I replaced them with bolts and nylock nuts.

Which rivets? The ones that keep the glass and metal bracket together?

Yes, I'm assuming you got just the glass, however I suppose it might come with the bracket if you got a used one.

I think there are three, but there might be more. It's been around 10 years since I last dealt with them.

Two of the rivets are to the left of my circle in this picture....

Ah, got it. Yes I ordered the glass + metal bracket assembly already riveted because my current window's roller (the circled part from your picture) snapped off and wouldn't allow my window to roll up.

You're going to have a hell of a time trying to get that whole assembly in the door. Make sure you remove the entire side view mirror and bracket for more room, and something for stress relief.

Stress relief, do you mean my stress or the window stress?

Your stress, working on the window components on these doors is a huge PITA. I've replaced the channel and regulator before, definitely not a fun time.

Yeah, I forgot that mine was loose causing a rattle around 10 years ago. When replacing the window motor, I replaced the part that broke on your regulator. I got a replacement from Chevy, but now shows discontinued.

From what I recall, I was very careful on removing the rivets. I don't recall having any issues with getting the glass out with the rivets removed. Just need to be careful that you don't unleash the regulator. If your not removing the motor, I think it will stay put...but might not hurt to clamp it in some way to be sure it won't move.

Here are my threads on the subject....
