1939 Plymouth With LT1
Hi,
This is my very first ever post on a forum! I hope I'm doing this correctly. Anyway here is my situation.I have recently purchased an unfinished 1939 Plymouth Business coupe project race car.The Car came to me with a very Built (383cid) LT1 and 4L80E Transmission.I need help picking a PCM build profile for this engine/tranny/car combo and then a good Tune. The block has no crank sensor (92-94 vintage) intake is complete minus sensors; the distributer is a vented Opti-spark (96-97 vintage). The car does not have a single wire in it, nor does it have a PCM of any kind.I am starting from scratch as far as a PCM is concerned.
My first step is to purchase and install all of the sensors, wires and PCM.I'm thinking about mimicking a (96-97) LT1 Camaro, or should I get rid of the Opti-Spark and upgrade to all LS components, or skip the crank sensor and go with OBD1.Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Fast makes wiring kits to hook up the LT1 into whatever you desire.

Also Painless

Optispark if you have the free cash to ditch it I would do so but if it's not broke... no need to fix it.

With your description of a very built 383, I would stay away from the stock computers as they are difficult to program. For a street application megasquirt is a good start.

These guys can also help you with designing a system and tuning.

you might get a better response if you post in a different section. I know alot of the ls guys use ms alot and you'll get more traffic than the dinosaur area.

Really? 808 Horsepower, force inducted on a stock pcm. absolutely no problems, street driven car even on trips.

Stock PCM is only a handicap if you have an NA build that needs a ton of RPM.
Without knowing the heads and cam to get an estimate of where you need to spin it to, its hard to recommend a PCM for you. For the large majority of people, the stock computer is plenty...but can be hard to find a tuning guru like Moe depending on where you are .
