LT1 383 stroker HP numbers
hi i was wondering how much hp people are putting to the wheels with an LT1 with a 383 stroker kit/Ported heads/Decent size Camshaft.
The set up im going with is the SCAT rotating assembly, 383 forged pistons and rods with cast crank. ported heads, custom 236/242 110 LSA camshaft, 1.6 rr's, etc...
im just wondering what kind of numbers that might put down to the rear wheels.

Just hard to spend the kind of money needed to make big numbers with a 383 on an aging NA LT1 platform when insane numbers can be had for less by going boosted.

Maybe I got away easy with my build. My current build makes about 440 to the wheels and its a 355. The only part I purchased brand new were the heads and pistons. Everything was used. I love when I see people put there stuff up to go LS. Puck, I hear what your saying. Im just tired of seeing the same old thing. I know you are too.

And yet people are still using hot cams, cc 305, 306..etc. Cams that have been around since the early 90's. Not looking to reinvent the wheel but technology has moved forward. Its like when I hear people say Solid rollers need to be adjusted all the time. No they dont...its old school mentality.

LOL, those cam grinds have been around a lot longer than the 90's...
It's not the cams that are the issue, but the head design. There's only so much you can do before you plateau. As far as adjusting with SR, I have no idea how long shaft mount rockers have been available, but with an aggressive SR, that's about the only way you don't have to adjust. I ran a mild SR with stud mount rockers and did have to adjust periodically.
Pretty much everything that can be done to a SBC has already been done in some form or fashion. The next generation with its superior head design is where it's at.

Thinking of building a low budget, 383 LT4 based stroker for my 1995 Impala SS. I use the term "low-budget" because i have collected the majority of the parts over the last 10 years, from folks upgrading to LS-based engines. I'm not looking to race or make 500 horsepower, but I am looking for a solid, 400 ft. lbs. of torque, with a noticeable idle, reliable enough for highway cruises and decent street manners.
I already have LT4 heads and intake and HOT cam. Most likely will not use HOT cam, as this heavy vehicle will retain the automatic transmission. New engine will have the basic performance upgrades like, headers, new Opti, throttle body, roller rockers, tune to maximize performance, etc. Other vehicle upgrades will include replacing the 3.08 rear gears with a 3.73 gear set.
I'm in Cali, so this vehicle must pass the state SMOG/emissions test.
