If coolant temp is around 200-230 then leave it alone. Do the flush of course that's just preventative maintenance.

I'd try popping a couple of these guys into the bumper to help feed the cores.

Could even bypass the intercooler and have them blow on AC and radiator only if there's room.

It will stick open and keep circulating coolant not allowing it ample time to cool down in the rad. Use the OEM tstat for that engine.

Cardboard is good as a proof of concept. The thing we can't see is the side bits on the bottom of the shroud. I'm guessing those were left open which is a no no. It'd probably also be a nightmare to cut those pieces out. This is the shroud I made for my car.

If/when I make another/redo this one, it'll be all aluminum as the plastic distorts with heat. I may do that sooner than later as I can just trace the plastic bits onto an aluminum sheet, cut it out, and snap it all back together.

His filter is basically in the stock location, you're thinking LS.

Doubtful, I don't have a local junkyard and I would rather not spend money to have stuff not work. And or not fit, as I have pusher fans in front of radiator etc.

Thats interesting, where would you have em feed from?

While trollin' is a lot of fun, I will be nice. That is not a functional filter. Furthermore, the coolant too fast to cool off is a myth, please look into it. Faster mass flow, faster temp shed.

Correct, sort of.

I would be interested to see more of the air dams you made for your car. If I can prove my stuff works, I was thinking of laser cutting aluminum and pop rivet in place or similar

I'm not sure why the hate. Its easy to cut, easy to hold in place and, free.

If it works, I use it to trace out some new sheet metal and paint that.

I was thinking a black sheet of plastic. I think it would complement your rad support panel the betters.

Forgot all about this, here are some more pics of my shroud. I started with cardboard. Hell, I dyno'd with cardboard last year as I was in the middle of making it.

This goes all the way up into the upper shroud, there's a lip it tucks behind on top.

The side pieces were more of an asspain to concoct.

I probably made a half dozen sets of these things before I got a shape I liked. This was not one that I liked.

I believe this was the piece that I liked. Here you can see the lip I was talking about before.

I put this expanding foam tape on the bottom, it grows to 1" thick.

Same thing up top.

Here you can see the side extensions I added so no air could sneak around the shroud. If you make one, use aluminum. The plastic deforms significantly with heat.

Interesting, so you sealed the nose of the bumper off from the radiator and forced the radiator to be fed 100% by the air dam?

That's how GM delivered it, albeit with a shitty *** shroud. Whatever air comes in through the nose is not directed at the radiator stock.

Gotcha. gotta think about how I can make that work with still allowing air flow thru intercooler.

I'd probably do 2 piece sides and have them overlap.

Well the intercooler feeds in theory from the hole in bumper, and radiator feeds from the air dam. But, at the moment its a straight shot thru the stacks.

Still got the lip? Thought about going front breather with ducting? I'm remembering now the 3rd gen drew through both for air. I haven't put eyes on a stock LT shroud, but my 99 tub takes it all in from the bottom.

Well I was thinking perhaps have the air path thru the bumper go thru intercooler then duct it straight down.

Air dam will be directed into radiator, and make a new larger air dam.

(to be clear, its a turbocharged car, air inlet to turbo is down pax side)
[filter on driver side is strictly for show]
