I build and work on a lot of LT1 race engines at Page Racing Engines and we are currently in the process of getting a 2 piece timing cover made so we don't have to drop the oil pan in order to change cams or cam timing. I wanted to put a feeler out to see if there is any interest in a 2 piece cover for these engines. The cover is made so one piece stays bolted to the block and the front cover bolts to the back piece and seals with an o-ring. The cover is also setup for an electric water pump so there is no water pump drive.
Just wanted to update that we are not going to be able to produce these. The quote we received was just to high and would end up putting each cover over $600 retail price.

Just curious, was that price based on you purchasing a certain quantity of these covers, or just a flat price, no matter the quantity?
I'd have expected a mid to upper $400 price range (because LTx). I'd personally pay over $600 (and buy 2), but I understand the mainstream would find that too high to make it a sustainable product.

That price isn't bad. I machine for a living and prices are increasing. People need to figure in a shop rate is usually around 100 bucks/ hr. Add material on top of that(aluminum has pretty much doubled in price).
