Default FLP Headers

Just bought a set of used FLP long tube headers to put on my 1996 Impala SS. Previous owner told me that he was forced to run an oil filter relocation kit on these because of clearance. From what I have read online though I should be able to use the AC Delco PF454 oil filter, which is a short oil filter, and have enough clearance. Anybody have experience with these headers?

Ordered the PF454 filter so we shall see I guess. Crossing my nuts that this works.

On another note, these headers come with the female v-band flange and I have ordered a whole set of v-band clamps and flanges to set up on the mid pipe. I will have to take it to an exhaust shop to get fabbed up. Hopefully they do not mess it up

Here are some pictures of the headers by the way. Forgot to include these

The plan is to get them recoated next week on Monday hopefully. I already have everything ordered to do the job. EGR block off from Hawksmotorsports, new GM Genuine MLS exhaust gaskets and new ACDelco 3 platinum spark plugs. Just waiting on everything to arrive.

Last night I was testing out the oil filter and I think the PF454 is going to have plenty of room and should work fine. Need to delete oil cooler

After 4 months I finally was able to get the driver side header on and they do in fact clear the PF454 oil filter, in fact they may have cleared the oil cooler lines as well.

Unfortunately they do not clear the ABS lines so I will have to remove them and bend them out of the way. I already know that the passenger AC line is going to need to be removed and bent as well.

I finally got these completely installed. What a pain in the ***. I did a lot of other things to the car as well that kind of stretched this process out but the headers were difficult.

ABS lines and AC lines needed to be bent. Just used a big *** pry bar and all was well, that was the easy part. Obviously some wiring down below needed to be pulled out of the way no issues there. The problem came to the dipstick tube. I could not get it bent properly for the life of me and ended up breaking the original one. I went back and bought a brand new dipstick tube and installed it and even that was a pain. I had to pull the header off the car and install it that way, massive suckage. Other than that the car sounds great. I have a few more things to button up before I can get it out on the road though.

I've always gone to Clear Image Automotive when needing LT1 headers. Avoids all the 'side work' you went through.

For your.....and others.....who may need such info in the future.

It sounds good.

All things considered, my Kooks headers weren’t too bad of an install. It seems pretty much everything about working on the f-body’s is a pita, so I guess that’s saying something.

This is on a b-body actually.

If it wasn't for my dilly dallying this really could have been like a one day project or two since I'm a first timer.
