Default when does torque peak in a stock LT1

Just wondering at what rpm a stock LT1 makes max torque. Looking for the numbers for a 97 F-body.

Thanks.

is peak torque that low in the rpm range good or bad?

Peak torque occuring a low RPMs allows the car great "off the line" acceleration. This is the main reason for the common myth that LT1s have more torque than an LS1. The LS1 has more peak torque, but an LT1's peak torque occurs lower in the powerband.

325 torque? Did they squeeze out an extra 5 for the bigger B and D bodies? (96 Fleetwood claims 330 at 2400)

It's probably tuned different, with its own cam profile. If memory serves, the LT1 Caprice made 260 hp, which is 15 less than the single cat LT1 F-body

So there you go - more torque, but less hp

Yea, we're running 260 horse. So we traded a bit of torque for the horses.

The cam for the B-bodies has a bit less duration on intake than on F & Y bodies, giving them more lowend torque than the F & Y bodies.

1994-1996 B-bodies (including L99 4.3L): 191/196 0.418/0.430 lift 111 LSA

This is true the heads have larger combustion chambers than they do in the F & Y bodies and thus run 9.8/1 CR as opposed to 10.5/1 CR. The heads on the Bs are iron heads and as such, would have problems with detonation (spark knock) if they ran the high compression that the aluminum heads run.
