Default Rear Suspension Question

I had my stock WS6 rims widened to 11 inches a couple of years ago. I also had to add 1" spacers to keep the wheels centered in the wheel openings but the left rear tire is even with the quarter panel and the right rear is inboard of the quarter by about 1 inch. I am the original owner so I know it has not been wrecked. Can this be corrected? The RH rear of the car is also 1 inch lower than the left. My car is a 97 T/A with 28K. Can the struts or springs be shot already?

An adjustable panhard rod will help with centering your rear end, but I don't know if that will solve your problem though. I have never heard of someone widening their wheels, how was this done? Also sounds like your shock(s) are shot but with 28k they should be fine. When checking your wheel clearance/height make sure the vehicle is on even/level ground. This will insure you get a correct reading. Hope I have been of some help.

I got the idea from the guy that runs ths WS6.com website. I sent them out to California to have them widened 2 inches. I think what he does is take a "donor" wheel and weld the face of the stock rim to it. The weld looks very good and I would have to say it is by far my favorite appearance mod I have done to any of my vehicles.

I could be wrong, but...i agree with musclehead. APHR will center your rear, and fix the problem of wheel/panel alignment. Additionally, your springs, and possibly your shocks are shot (i have the same problem-car sits 1 to 1.5 inches lower on the passenger side). Few too many hard launches, ey?? Anyway, if you get new springs that aren't stock, i highly reccomend that you get accompanying shocks, or they could end up very bouncy. Different note, now that my fuel problems are fixed, i would be great if tire rack would just get me my new tires...i have street slicks at the moment on my unlevel rear Hope i helped...later.

Thanks for the advice. Yeah I launch hard at every stop. I only drive it a couple of times a month. Gotta get my thrills while I can. I see on Tbyrne.com that they have double adjustable pan hard rods for $119.99 (PN TB8000). Is this what you're saying will help me with centering my rear end?

Musclehead: I owe you a name for the wheel widening. I'll check my box of receipts at home and see if I can get you that info.

I had my wheels widened by Eric Vaughn Machine Shop in Monrovia, California his phone number is 626-358-6413. I think I paid $225 a wheel. It's cheaper than buying a whole new set of wheels and I like the look of the stock WS6 rims.

$225 a wheel is a little to much for me right now but thnx for the info NVRLATE. Maybe in the future I can have him widen my 18x8's to 18x10's.
