Yeah the old square peg in the round hole game...

Although there are some guys running around with the Arao 32v pushrod head. That would be bad ***... I'd love to see one in person.

LT5 is good for exactly one thing and that is bling, if looking for power it is a total waste.

Really? I thought they were really good at making power with some work, especially with some FI.

Yeah the LT5 is almost considered underpowered by today's standards, but in 1993 405 was insane... but they have HUGE potential... but it just cost way more than a traditional LT1/LS1 setup...

Just look at what the Lingenfelter ones make NA... Insane. Plus you can rev it up super high. But... Lots of $$

For the cost of installing one much less the purchase price you could make insane power with an LT1. Word is Tim Allen spent 6 figures on putting an LT5 in his Impala SS(94-96), a crate LT5 is something like $25K, then add 4 cams (custom blanks) to that price if you want to mod it. For just the cost of the engine and new cams you could setup a whole car and build a TT383 and tranny to hold it that would blow the LT5 away. Think about it the 405HP WAS impressive as stated way back in 93, today a ZO6 makes that single cam pushrod and the next single cam pushrod ZO6 will eclipse that number comfortably, heck you can get that power out of a heads/cam stock bottom LT1. It is a cool motor just not worth dealing with unless you want BLING and have DEEP pockets.

That statement pretty much covers it. They can make some great power, especially with F/I, but the costs are astronomical.
