Default Spec clutches... good or bad??

Did some searching about spec clutches and the feedback seems mixed. Just wondering if I could get some feedback from yall on the subject. Are they good for the street or not? Do they last long or will I be replacing it in a year or two? I'm thinking about getting the Spec stage 2 clutch. The car will be a daily driver with weekend trips to the dragstrip.

You would see more feedback under 'Manual Trans', but spec is a great clutch well up to 500 HP, and is very responsive...

Good Luck

I love mine, I drive my car daily, its been great and hasn't slipped once. I drive like I'm at the track all the time so, i'm sure if your more conservative then the spec two will last you well past 2 years. I'm pushin 350rwhp so I give it two thumbs up

I know a spec stage two hold a Cammed Lt1 with a 150 shot fine, even with a 1.6 60ft. Mine is on the way.

Check out ebay, they usually run a few around 370, might save you a hundred or so. I bought mine from LMperformance and wished I know about ebay then.

Wow you guys have had better luck than me...Spec 3 with 2500 miles on it and then one of the springs on the disc popped out and was causing a bad vibration but after spendin all my cash on things for the new motor I am left with one option...Buy another disc so hopefully this one holds good. But before that spring incident It was AWESOME grabbed like a SOB

I have also heard some mixed results about Spec. I have not heard bad things about the Cartek clutch though. Just some food for thought.

McCleod clutches are pretty badass too. I have a Spec 3 right now, and it has a little chatter if I try to treat it like the stock clutch. Spec's S3 is more like a light switch than a dimmer(stock clutch) unless you're revvin a little higher. Then you can ease in. Grabs like a **** tho

spec three is a serious clutch though, not meant for daily driven grocery getters. Spec 2 is optimum for that. spec 3 will chatter a lot if you treat it like a stock clutch

In less than a year i went through two stage 3's. Right now i have a stage 4 with a billet flywheel and i love it. Much better than the stage 3. It grabs alot harder. The stage 4 has about 6 months on it. It is getting warn. It would last longer but i was caught in interstate traffic for 14 miles which was hell on that thing.
