david from thunder racing said this about the 99893 springs (that come in the 10308-1 kit)
"These can be setup very tight for cams up to .650 lift and are good for 7000-7200rpms"

Would these exert too much pressure on stock lifters causing them to colapse?

Stock springs are fine with 1.6 rockers. Get the Crane kit any way so you will have it for your new cam. I got locaters and more shims to make sure installed height was correct. Smaller valve seals are required. No problems with XE cam and stock lifters.

I had the Crane 10308-1 springs in my old 94 Z28...i loved them with my 224/230XE cam....made the car rev a little quicker...they are a great bargain and very reliable .600 lift spring that will fit stock seats for $150 or so...also they give you the extra assurance of dual valve springs..i vote for getting them
