Default Heads and Cam, Need Help!

Hey guys, i have a set of ported stock heads i want to put on my car. Well i was going to do a 383 but my budget wont allow it. SO, i was just going to do heads and cam. THe heads are 2.00/1.55, and got valves for them (my dad ported them for me for graduation) I *think* they have bigger valves, but im not positive. I saw the flow chart and there max hp went to like 512hp or something in the 5's. Anyway, i was wondering what cam i should get? I will also be spraying 100/150 wet shot. Will i need bigger fuel injectors?? I was thinking about a cc306, or any other susgestions?? I want a BIG CAM, i want a nice power range, and will get it tuned accordingly. Any and all help will be great. Also... do any of u guys have a hesitation in your lt1 at high rpm?? like it studders? i was wondering if this was just mine, or if something was wrong etc. THanks guys, David.

High RPM studder can mean the optispark

You might want to look into the GM847 cam as it is a little bigger than the cc306, but provides more power accross the board.

uhh oh, how do i tell for sure?? I dont have autotap or anything as of yet. Where can I find the GM847 cam? Also, what numbers (roughly) do u think i will be putting down with my heads and a gm847???I would like to see like mid-high 12's on motor, and mid-high 11's with n20 + radials if possible. Thanks again for all your input guys. Dave

With the 847 cam, good tune, and traction, I dont see any reason you shouldn't see low 12's/high 11's N/A...The better the heads are, the better your time will be. Good luck!

Default Gm 847??

Hey guys, where can i buy the GM 847?? Also, i read that the GM 847 has a nice topend, so would i need to raise my rev limiter to get the full potential of the cam??? and if so what rpm would i raise it to?? Thanks, Dave.

It's supposed to be similar to the LE2 camshaft, but the LE2 has more aggressive ramps and is claimed to make about 10 more rwhp.

Owens Racing, do you know if those lift numbers are with 1.6 ratio rockers?

WELL IN THIS CASE U HAVE 2 CHOICES. 1ST PART U HAVE THE HEADS, SO I RECOMMEMNDED HAVING THEM FLOWBENCHED (VERY IMPORTANT).....nEXT MATCH THE CAM TO THE HEADS. HERES WHERE U HAVE CHOICES.. CUSTOM GRIND OR OFF THE SHELF. BOTH MAY GIVE U THE SAME POWER BUT I SUGGEST CALLING AROUND TO SOME BIG DOG SHOPS WHO HAVE PROVEN NUMBERS AND GO WITH WHAT THEY RECOMMEND DEPENDING ON WHAT YOUR HEADS ARE FLOWING. THEN TO GET U INTO THE 12'S U HAVE TO THINK ABOUT STALL, GEARS AND THE OTHER MOST IMPORTANT A GOOD TUNE. I HAVE A CUSTOM GRIND WITH TPIS HEADS AND SHOULD HIT ABOUT 400 TO 450 RWHP. OH INCLUDING PORTED INTAKE, 58MM TB, LONG TUBES, CUTOUT. GRIND ON CAM IS VERY AGGRESSIVE ON A 112 LOBE SEP. DURATION IN THE 230'S WITH A .580 LIFT. GOOD LUCK DO SOME RESEARCH BEFORE U BUY!!!!!!

.575/.595 lift (1.6's), 234/242 duration, 112 lsa.
I have the GTP-6 which is a very similar grind and I'll spin anywhere from 66-6800 and it's still pulling....I have a 3200 stall so I can't tell you where it really starts making power since when I flash the converter it's already pulling like a raped ape.
