Because when I got the car I wanted to keep up with my a couple buddies who've got a 97 3000GT VR4, and another one with a 95 TA who later got a 01 Vette. Now that I beat them, I want make it into the 11s on stock heads and rear end with out using nitrous. After I do that I want to get into the 10s after the heads are ported and using nitrous. Then once the motor blows up, I will have to build a forged, high comp 383 and run a big shot through that.

I do it cause its a part of my life, and I'm a speed freak. It also helps if you have friends like I do that are into the same thing.

I bought mine with full intentions to mod the **** out of it. Just didnt count on spending quite as much money. In the beginning low 12's were all I was looking for. Now I cant wait to go low 10's.
I couldnt afford a LS1 when I started but probably could own 2 stock ones by now. I hate the look of 98+ Firebirds and TA's, 98+camaro's are even uglier if you ask me.
Here's my setup after two years of moding, breaking stuff, replacing with better and breaking stuff again
96 Mystic Teal Trans Am
4L60E by Pro-Built Automatics (3rd one now slipping)
Vigilante 3200 stall
Powerdyne 6psi kit
Pacesetter longtubes & ORY-emissions=none
SLP loudmouth (too loud, Mufflex/spintech 4" kit on the way!)
Stock heads & intake ported by me
Stock cam&rockers(untill I get the income tax check)
PCM tuned by PCMforless.com
42lb injectors
MSD 6BTM, Blaster coil, wires, NGK TR6ix plugs

Whenever I get my 4th trans I plan on raising the boost to 9psi and spraying some methanol to cool er down.
Then one day I'll destroy my stock bottom end and the new goal will be low 9's! with a Procharger!
(If the wife doesnt shoot me in my sleep first )

well some one should not give up on these LT1's, do u know that LT1's are better engines than the LS1's when it comes to NOS :O

as for me my 97 camaro is bone stock...cept for the shiftkit TCI and the airmoroso air filter....

with the right tune up with the right combination of modification this LT1 flys more than high 13.s....

I modded...well because **** kept breaking. Everything that broke, got replaced with a much better Item.

BTW... I know someone who can build one hell of a 4L60E. Mine had 4 years of abuse including hundreds of trips past 150mph WOT. (No Failure in 3rd or 4th gear ever. ) and that was both before and after the CC306 cam.

I couldnt imagine being on my 5th. I would definately be looking elsewhere...

because you can buy a beautiful lt1 car for 6 or 7 grand and you have an extra 10 thousand to play with.

I dont think u need to either LMAO
I did it because I love being the underdog...I like telling my friends with ls1s how much I spent and then seeing their faces....It started with a flowmaster exhaust but I had a feeling that wasnt gonna last long as the only mod... Thenn I was like "Oh I blew a head gasket time to port heads and throw a cam in there" but come on guys who puts a cam and heads without getting some long tubes and rocker arms...Then for about 5 mins I said mmm this power feels good..How much is nitrous LOL then sprayed the crap out of that poor 105k mile motor....Then I said im sorry baby Ill get you frshened up...To a 383 with some splayed caps and diamond pistons... omg the list is endless but BEST OF ALL

14K INVESTED including buying car

GOOD LUCK to everyone and your LT1s
