Default Why do you guys modify your lt1s?

My reason was simply that I got bored with running high 13s. As other cars out there got faster I hated to be left behind. Sometimes I regret that I even touched my car...especially after the 2nd motor and 5th tranny. Power really is addictive but when I think how much money I've blown in this car, I could've probably bought another one.

Because every stock LT1 round here was runnin 15's. i didnt want to run 15's, so i started, and now its slowly going faster. lol, you feel bad about high 13's but you should look on the bright side. up here in the clouds at a track with no hook(i spin through like 150 feet off the spray... at least ), you'd be beggin for high 13's in a stock LT1. hehe

theres always somethin faster, for me, this is my car, and for now this is what im modding.

I modded mine because i just thought the car should have come with more power. I guess my idea of power is different.

because there is no feeling quite like coming of the line at 4500 rpms and getting pinned to the back of your seat

i like the LT1's, they are solid motors. i like the looks of those anyways. its just like asking a rice burner why the do it but of course we have better reason

if you're tired from being left behind i don't know what to tell ya...

it took a substantial amount of years after our cars for them to actually BE faster than ours.

LMFAO!!!

I did it for the same reason I just did the following on the Wifes 95 LT1

LPE cam
1.6 rockers
K-800 valve springs
Eibach Pro kit
New shocks and strutts
Poly front bushings
LS1 brake kit
Tunning
Freashen the rear end with Raytec spacer and T/A cover

This all tied in nicely with the other parts that fell on it off my car.. Like
SLP headers
Borla
Y2K Chrome Ten Spoke SS wheels
LCAs
and a Plethora of other mods

Just seemed like the thing to do...parts were doing nothing but collecting dust on the shelf!

Besides 12 second pass's only keep you up with Lidded LS1s now

I think this guy has no idea what he talking about!!!!! If u r comparing the power to an LS1 lets level the playing field LS1 with 15 degree heads LT1 with 23 degree heads. Nascar inspired racing head.... conventional V8 heads. If u put and 18 degree head on a LT1 u will get an LS1 eater i guarnatee it. In Fact a buddy of mine is building a 500 RWHP LT1 6 speed. YEs!!!!! 500rear wheel horsepower. The aftermarket LT1 is barely coming around as where the LS1 engines are dumb and dumber put any cam in it and it will run bad ***. Oh and if u wanna run fast LT1 I am your car.

Lt1s have come a long ways in the past couple years. When I first started modding, very few companies out there had anything for these cars. In fact, some of the sponsors on this site now have removed all lt1 stuff from their catalogs. These reasons make me want to hold onto my lt1 more. Sometimes it seems like these cars are just plain disrepected and not taken seriously.

I really had no intentions on going as far as I have with this car. It started off with a cold air kit, airfoil, programmer, headers...and so on, and so on. I'm sure most of you guys know what I'm talking about. Once you get into it, it really does start to snowball.

Thats kinda like saying to an 03-04 Cobra owner "Lets take off your supercharger and then see how fast you are!"
