I have to deal w the same "LS1's are better disease" here in NY also... along w. "Why are u driving a 3rd gen--go buy a 4th gen" disease as well... i have owned at least 6 3rd gens before buyin my 95 Formy...(and i still love them) and i got the same crap every day.... and lemme tell u--the 89 WS6 formula i had would blow my car away on some hairy turns....! the suspension was great.

sometimes old is better-sometimes NOT....everyone has their own opinion *it took me a while to just block out what people had to say--its what i picked for myself to please me---i didnt buy/ pick my car for anyones else driving pleasure!! until they pay for my car-- --then ***k them! LOL

Update on this thread from yesterdays (Sunday-27th) F-body dyno day. My car (02 Z, LS1, A4)pulled 309/329 w/ catback, lid, ported tb and maf. An LT1, A4, with bolt-ons (headers, full exh, deltec ign system, and other minor stuff) pulled 308/340. But the thing I did notice is that how the LS1 car responded to mods. A 00 Z, M6, w/ lid, pacesetters, and cutout pulled 348/356. The headers and cutout really helped him.
So, there is no real BEST, consdiering the LS1 starts w/ more hp, they both resond very well to mods and can run side-by-side all day long.
I love them both....too bad the stangs can't hang...LOL

I'm almost stock and I beat several LS1s. How? I dont know. I like the LT1 much better as well. You could never get an LS1 to sound as good as a LT1. I also hate those idiots that think that Trans ams are faster than camaros. These guys are stupid as hell! I had a guy (that owned a TA) tell me that its a good thing I bought TA because they're faster than a camaro. I laughed and said you do know they are the same right. He responded with well the trans am was built better. I just had to leave. Wow what an idiot, if anything the camaros would be faster because they are slightly lighter.

I will tell ya I have a 1997 trans am ws6 lt1 modified a smidge. I agree not only ls1 owners but you would not believe the people I get who roll up thinking they are going to get a peice. There are plenty of ls1 owners who push more hp. They are ls1's. You know what they all want now, a new Corvette or GTO. I have a 97 and I only have 32,000 miles on the car. Thats all that matters. As far as them saying its a pos, well most trans ams and camaro's made with the same fiberglass and plastic are just that. However, it is all the pos that I could afford. So, ls1 owners can keep there pos and I can keep my pos.

I to have owned both right now I have a 01 SS,had a 97 z28,As far as sound is concerned I have gmmg exhausht and kooks headers this car sounds alot better then my lt1 did.I did feel that the ls1 was not as torquey off the line but it hauls butt up top. They both are very mod friendly but I would choose the ls1 over the lt1 mostly because most places are phaseing out the lt1 market.

Own both my wife has the 94 with all the boltons, mine is another story. Both are great cars if you know what you're doing you can make a beast out of either.

To tell you the truth all the lt1 bashing is totally misguided. When I bought my 94 ta I wanted an ls 1 car but I couldn't find a decent ls 1 bird that wasn't ridiculously overpriced, ended up with my lt1 and love it.We should be more concerned with if it is fast enough to stomp stang and rice ***. Appreciate both as good motors and move on.

Proud owner of a relatively quick LT1 here! Although, if I had the money to do it again, I would probably have to get an LS1 for two reasons: I love the look of the WS6; and the increase power stock just gives you a bigger building block to work from. Plus the block is aluminum and that is just less weight over the front end.
A buddy of mine with an 01 SS made 383rwhp with just LTs, cam, and bolt ons. However when we raced at the track I ran quicker, but he ran faster(he sprayed me to the tune of 122mph!)

I don't know, theres just something about my car that I love. Maybe because its my first car, or the fact that in Houston all f-bodies I see are usually LS1's, hardly ever see a LT1, and if I do its a T/A. Guess it makes me feel a little bit better knowing everybody and there mammy isnt driving my type of car. Only two more months of college and I'm done!! then I'll have the money to put the hurtin on some LS1's. Just gotta decide on a set-up now

YOu screwed up everything If it wasn't for Joe the tech series would be saying that the lt1 is outgunned so you can do whatever you want..do whatever heads you want...brodix 12x...ha..no problem...bring it on and get beat by the all mightly ls1. But now they are saying the lt1 is superior since no one can catch joe . Next thing you know..because of Joe..we are all going to have to load our home gyms in the truncks like he did before they let us race.
