Default What intake gaskets are you guys running ?

I am just about ready to start building up my 383 turbo motor.
And i was wondering what type of intake gaskets you guys are using.
I have stage 2 gtp heads, And the stock intake gaskets did not match up to well. I actualy had 3 ports suck in the gasket.
What is the diffreance with the lt4 intake gaskets.
Thanks
Micah

DO this , but some stock intake gaskets and get a dremel , and take just enough material to clear the port on the heads. IT will work perfectly!!!

im dead serious.. I have done it in the past.. Were do you think people buy couston intake gaskets for ported heads??????? They dont , they use a stock Fel-Pro gasket and remove any material thats in the way of the coustom port!

Hey Micah, how is the buildup going so far? Give me some details

For intake gaskets, you may want to try the FelPro 1284's. They have worked well for me.

Yeah i bought the stock GM intake gaskets and used a dremel to fit the gasket to the port size
what does everyone have against stock Gm gasket? I have heard more bad things about felpro Gasket than about any other gaskets on the market.

LT4s don't have bigger port? I think I disagree alot on the one The HEAD intake port is .100 taller. I only USE GM Gaskets. the other have failed on me.

It is not un common to have to Clearance the gaskets

Well i ran into a few problems at the machine shop. The price keept going higher and higher. Total cost 6,500 for my 383 !!!!!!
I got the best parts money can buy. And i had everypossible thing done to the block that can be done....lol
I should be picking it up in another week. Then I will start the build up. Ill keep you posted on my progress.

ok , my question is if your removing the part of the gasket that is the actual seal, cant this cause sealing problems.

Use the GM raceport LT4 intake gaskets p/n 12367777 they will match perfect

Craig Uses this gasket as a template for his intake ports.

Tom

whats up dude. Its been a long time....
Yeap lots has changed.

Here is where i am currnetly at.
My 9million dollar short block is still at the shop. Its done. But i need to come up with the rest of the money. It went way way over budget. (6,500)
What i have is a fully forged 383 /4-bolt main short block with 10.4 cr.
I know some of you are saying . that is to high of a cr for a highly boosted car.
Well i dont agree with that statment.
What im doing is going to set this bad boy up with 2 differnt boost settings. One at around 8-9psi for daily driving. Then up as high as it will go when i fill her up with some race fuel and refill the ice tank for the custom liquid to air intercooler im making.
All of that with a perfect tune. And im good to Go.
I will be slapping my gtp stage 2 heads back on now that i just got my new springs and titanium retainers, I also had the heads worked on further.
and so on and so forth..lol....lots of work on her this year. But i want to hit at least 700rwhp and even more tq..
I also have 3 other top secret tricks im working on ! time permiting, and with alot of luck, well just wait, you will hear more on this latter...

So whats up with you Tom ?? whats new ? whats old ?? lol

Yes you can they are about 15$ a piece, pricey but they are what you need make sure you get 2 they come one to a package. I use 3m weatherstrip adhesive around the ports to seal them . Never have problems.

i have stockers and also have seen them on the trick flow heads without issue also
i dont know what the port looks like on the gtp's
so i dunno if they will work on them
but they dont have a metal seal ring so they can be trimmed without issue
