Manual or Automatic

To say "A 4L60E has a life expentancy of three months or less in my car" would be a fair statement especially given your experiences.
To say " an automatic has a life expentancy of three months or less in my car" is an unfair statement since there are much stronger alternatives to the 4L60E.
I'm not saying the T56 isn't right for your car. Sounds to me like you made the decision that makes you happiest. But there was a decision to make (TH400, 4l80E or T56) is my point.
Do what everyone else does. Spray after 60' to keep you legal. Then at the end of the night go ***** out to see what she can do. Then if they kick you out it doesn't matter because you were leaving anyway

[QUOTE=the_merv;10412274]GM never made them bro..
It was Borg-Warner, now it's Tremec.
To re-word your Statement, it's the best and most reliable Transmission GM has put into their Cars. )
lol i was close... but thats what i meant thanks!

I keep seeing posts that the t56 is a strong tranny, yet I've been told by others that they want to break pretty easily esp. if you don't drive nicely, and have an extra 1-200 hp over stock... Is it really that great? (given that you do use the clutch when shifting).

I love both
If you are a thrill driver.. get the T56.. if your plans are only to take your car to the track someday (like me) get the A4 Built..
I wanted an M6 but couldn't find one near me for a good price.. then of course after I buy my A4 they start selling like crazy... lol or you can always put a shift kit in it if you really want to switch gears by yourself... except keep in mind most people make fun of clutchless drivers

Well I'm gunna jump on this post now.
I have always found that the Manual transmissions are just plain more fun to drive, Automatic is simple no worries driving, no shifting no clutching, But "I" feel more in control of my Car when it is a Manual. Now I am speaking in general terms. Manual Vs. Auto in "MY" opinion. Now T56 Vs. 4l60E or so? Who knows, all this if you mod it blah blah blah, ANything can stand up to anything you want it to if you mod it for that specific use.
Bottom line it is all about preference. Do you like jamming through the gears? Do you like just gassing it and going? Preference Preference Preference, Drive each and make your decisions from there. No sense in have 9 pages of people bashing on others because of thier Preference. That's all it is, Preference.

I am looking to by a 1994-1997 LT1 Camaro with about 50,000-70,000 miles. I have a friend who has a 1995 z28 with catback, K&N, a shift kit, and a performance chip. I really like the way it drives, and it is very quick. Although I would rather go through the gears manually, but i'm not a very experienced stick driver. As of right now I own a 1991 z28 350 tpi with a good amount of mods, and am planning to sell this to get the LT1.
Now, do the m6 LT1s perform better in any way than the a4's? I know a m6 LS1 performs damn good and seems to be better from a roll than an a4(not to mention looks more fun to drive). I also know that the LT1s do not have as much power at their dispense as an LS1, so how do they perform from a roll in an m6 compared to an a4? Also, what are the a4's pros and cons, and the m6's pros and cons? If I were to buy a m6, it would be my first time owning a manual, and i'm not too experienced at driving them, so it would kind of be a learning experience.
All input appreciated, thank you.
