Default problems with getting old headers off

Hey bros. Im in the process of putting some Pacesetter longtubes on my baby. Now, I got the drivers side header off.. wasnt too bad. The passanger header on the other hand.. holy crap. Whats the secret to getting the very front two header bolts out on the passanger side? I took off my altenator and some A/C lines but I still cant get to it. Looks like there is some power steering lines in the way, whats the secret??

to me it sounds like your trying to do this from the bottom.. you need to do it from the top take the alt off and you will see your 2 bolts there should be no a/c lines in the way

To make things easy on you, You can do what i did . Find a small wrench that fits the bolts. And mill it down, So it slips over with no problem.
That will help ease the install also.

I haven't heard of too many other folks having the problem with the front passenger bolt, but I sure did. I had to disconnect the rubber line coming from the power steering bottle from the hard line going to the pump in order to get access to the bolt. Once disconnected, you can swivel the hard line out of the way. Just catch the PS fluid that leaks out, and refill the bottle with new stuff when it's all hooked back up.

I was told to slowly turn the wheels from side to side a few times when I was done.

I will try this tonight, I cant believe they could make these LT1s such a bitch to work on. Its ridiculus, there is ZERO room in the engine comparment, its so crammed. But you guys already know this

installing that passanger side one should be just as fun as taking it out, i had to undo the motor mount on that side and lift the engine a bit to get it to clear.

I just blindfolded myself and threw the new headers in the general vicinity of the car and they installed themselves.

FINALLY!! I just got done getting them bitches on. Damn, i got some battle scares. Id say all in all it took over 20hours for me to do these headers, removing stock manifolds... yoda yoda.

I got a question though. I plan on running open headers for awhile and the driver side header comes down right by the fuel lines, they are right in the way of the exhaust opening. Is there anything I can cover the fuel lines with?Because I know that could not turn out good.

I recommend anyone in the salt belt or similiar states that have lots of rust or you car has higher mileage to start spraying the header bolts down a good month before you plan to do headers. PB blaster or Kroil or any of the good stuff. This will help decrease your chance of snapping stubborn bolts off. When you go to remove them let the engine come up to operating temps and when it's cool enough to touch remove the bolts
