I second the magnaflow. I have edelbrock shorty header, stock y pipe and cats, and it sounds good. It pops a little between shifts and during downshifts, but I think that's kind of cool. It is quiet at idle, but mean and deep under acceleration. I've heard flowmaster and that sounded like a truck compared to my beastly magnaflow. It looks badass as well. Oh yea, it's also cheap.

I think the LM sounds great. Just bought it and just installed it. Nice pipe, nice tips, and a nice empty "Hollywood Muffler". I do have stock Y and Manifolds though. I'll have to wait and see after the LT's and ORY whats up. Bottom line, Horsepower makes noise.. and either youw anna hear it or you dont.

I have a MAC on my current setup, it's a little raspy fo rmy taste.
I've had hooker catbacks on two previous Fbodies and I plan on putting one on this one as well.
Smoothe mellow tone.

After many years of seeing the same question over and over again on various boards the general consensus is GMMG is expensive but sounds the best...and by looks of the poll it still holds true here...Honeslty i dont care how good it sounds im not spending over 4-500 bucks for a catback. If you want loud try the loudmouth or tsp rumbler, if you want milder sound try the hooker

If you want the best, you gotta pay for the best. GMMG is by far the best out there. I am a college student and don't have thousands of dollars to throw into my car, but, instead of settling with some cheap exhaust that will not be what I want, I saved my money and got the GMMG. I would do it again if I had to.

Tips arent a problem at all, my car had the tips that the WS6 cars came with and I like those, not too flashy, so i kept them.

LoudMouth gets my vote. Always will. Everything out there is just a loudmouth with a muffler.

You don't because the kit comes with clamps so you clamp the pieces together which is the case with any catback and you could always weld it if you wanted to but I wouldn't personally because I'm always changing my exhaust around and what not adn there really isnt any need to weld it. Also, you will love the sound of your GMMG!

hey thanks stealth for the info. i guess i have always seen everypart of the exhaust from headers back welded thats why i thought that. thats good that everything clamps, because in the future i will be getting my headers and catted y so that will make it that much easier.

I don't understand why people pay full price on GMMG systems. You can piece together the system yourself and pay Oprah to put it together for you for less.

Well I ordered that magnaflow because I could not come up with the money for the GMMG at that time.

my brother has a 96 Z28 M6 with slp loudmouth and its loud as but it sounds good, i've also noticed something its intimidating as hell, hes reved on some cars that could have walked him pretty easily, hes shut some mustangs up since hes had it (he also has shorty headers and ORY-pipe too though but you get the idea)

Best sounding exhaust I had was with a hollowed cat and flowmaster catback... stock maifolds. My current car has headers, so might not like it now!
