I have had experiences with both. My buddy with his 02 Z and a buddy with a 01 Z. The 02 had Kooks while the 01 had pacesetters. Both were the same and had the same flow design. If you have the money, buy the Pacesetters and spend the rest on parts you need. I would not spend that much on headers. Think of it this way, for the amount you would pay for the kooks and catted Y from Kooks, you could bey Pacesetters PLUS WAY more parts!

Really good = Pacesetter coated
Best = Kooks, QTP, FLP

I doubt you'd notice a big performance difference between any of them, especially coming from stock manifolds.

Plus if I am not mistaken, good luck finding a company that sells or even makes a catted Y pipe for the LT1... last I knew was my buddy could not find one for his 95 Hawk.

Default kooks

I got the kooks because I plan on having my TA for the rest of my life and I don't want to worry about replacing the headers in 12 or 15 years. If you wanted to make coated headers last that long, you'll want to recoat the portion of the headers that are underneath the car yearly. All of the airborn debris and sand act like sandblasting and wear off the coating and the headers will begin to corrode. Corrosion is ok because it forms a barrier to prevent further corrosion however if the corrosion is continually removed (by air born debris and sand) the steel will deteriorate at an accelerated rate and you'll eventually get holes in the headers.

I've learned that it's best just to save up and get what will make you happy in the long run.

I didn't think that pacesetter made stepped headers. I just graduated to kooks stepped from hooker LTs. I love them. Top quality construction and a real beauty in the engine bay. There is a vid in my sig with just the kooks open.

QTP is only for LS1s. You don't pay attention the thread owner has LT1!

How does plug access compare between them? I'm thinking about stepping up to a long tube, but I'm wondering if the passenger side plugs will be any eaiser to get to than my MACs. Becasue right now they are a PIA.
