Rear Main Seal i have my transmissions out of my 96 trans am doing a stall change noticed that the rear main was leaking a little bit just woundered how hard it was to change it out

i havent done one on our cars but assuming they arent any different its pretty easy. you can use grease and a rod about the same size as the id of the seal and it will push it out. not sure if you can use a seal puller on the rear main. i know you can on the front main. i also know people that collapse one side and then just use pliers to pull it out. good luck

I haven't done it but you don't have to drop the oil pan. Getting it out wouldn't be the problem. Putting it back would be the biggest obstacle. I do believe there is a seal installer you can use and the parts stores will have them to buy or to loan out. Hell, you probably don't even need it. Just a seal that goes around the crank. Use a hammer to lightly tap it all the away around and make sure your lips don't get flipped out.
