Default Shorties Vs Long tubes

I know the long tubes are gonna be more hp but they are also ALOT more $$$ I found long tubes for $400ish and shorties for $129. This is something on the outside I can change later. Do the shorties do much better then the stock manifolds? Can I get by till later?
Fresh LT1 bottom
Mildly Ported heads

i picked up over 3 tenths with shorty edelbrocks. and gained another 1 over that from long tubes.

personally i think shorties are worth the money... but is it really worth the labor of doing shorties, then doing long tubes later.

With ported heads you'll want long tubes.

When you get a heads/cam, you'll see the bigger gain with long tubes than shorties. Shorties increase low end torque because of the small primaries, long tubes give more midrange power, which is perfect for a heads/cam setup.

Good luck with installing your own LTs, everyone says its easy but my *** couldnt get nothing loose. sigh.......... As for LTs VS shorties, definatly LTs its better in the long run espacialy if you plan on other mods, if your going to turbo it then dont cuz you need new custom manifolds, but myself and most people go with LTs. Good Luck

Definately long tubes. I picked up 4 tenths on a stock lt1. Install is not exactly a walk in the park, but very well worth it in the long run. Also make sure you go with the y-pipe as well.

LT's all the way....

Install is really NOT that bad at all, all you really need is patience and know how

Put that money toward LTs. If your car was mostly stock than I'd say shorties are fine, but with that cam and ported heads shorties would just be a waste of money IMO. With that setup you want max power in the 3500+rpm range, shorties don't do much better than stock there.

LT's are a complete BITCH to install. At least mine were. Im sure some brands fit easier than others though.
