t56 conversion from A4
well i already have the interior apart and have all of the auto stuff out all im waiting on now is for the parts arrive... i already have a pretty good idea on everything i have to do but if there is anybody here who has done it and has any tips or pointers i would really appreciate it... i got a T56 out of a LT1 Z28... comes with a hurst shifter(being replaced by a pro 5.0 as soon as i have the money with lou's short stick), spec stage 3 clutch kit(new), torque arm, crossmember, flywheel(either resurface or new one if need be), pedals, hydraulics, driveshaft(which if im correct A4 and M6 driveshafts are the same anyway) anybody need a driveshaft lol, bellhousing, and i think thats it i already know how to get the clutch safety wired up if i want and i know how to get the reverse lockout wired up by swapping some pins on the existing harness.... do i need to buy a v.s.s. pigtail and what about the reverse lights also can i use the old flywheel bolts on the new flywheel thanks

You will need all the pigtails. Reverse lockout, dont worry about tapping into your pcm, just run it to a switch and hit the switch when you want reverse. B-Positive A-Ground. Make sure you drill the holes for master high enough. Go ahead and do the drill mod before you put the hydraulics in. Swap is easy, shouldnt take you long. Oh and you will need to reflash the pcm for 6 speed.

I swapped from T56 to auto and I had to swap pigtails and had a hell of a time getting the PCM flashed right for proper VSS output. Just uploading a factory auto file didn't work!!

the flywheel bolts can't be reused. the M6 flywheel is much thicker than the A5 flex plate so the ones from the auto are too short. luckily they are the same as a standard SBC 350 and can be picked up cheap and found anywhere.
i had to get all new pigtails for my 94 t56 into original 94 auto car.
now the car is wrecked and all the stuff is going into a 95 that was originally a 6 speed. all that extra work for nothing
my pointer is to install the pedals to mark where your holes for the u-bolt need to be drilled and the hole for the master needs to be cut. i used a hole saw drill bit, don't remember what size.
take the time to make sure the hydraulics are correctly bled, otherwise you'll be doing it again and that u-bolt can be difficult sometimes.
my main reccomendation would be to to use a nice jig specifically for jacking a t56 into place, but i was just lucky enough that a guy i know rebuilds them all the time and made his own and let me borrow it.
