Default How big can we go

I know LS1 cams can be found way over the .600 lift range. Well what about our LT1's, how big of lift on a cam can be found. I think the biggest i have seen is right around .550 area.

2 very popular of the shelve cams the CC306 and GM847 have lifts more then that (0.55), with 1.7 rockers their lift will be in the 0.6xx range. Cams with lifts as high as 0.672 can be had from comp and that's on hydraulic roller lobes, with mechanical rollers higher lifts are available.

Comp makes them under their Hi-teck line, another much cheaper make is Scorpion. They are not specific for the LT1 which requires narrow body self aligning rockers. It's not a big deal to run wide body non-self aligning rockers on LT1.

Let me guess, only the Head company (i love that word, head) will know what lift their heads can take?

not sure what you mean... your not going to want to put 600 lift on a stock un ported head... they dont flow that well at that much lift

Its been done. I have a friend running 1.7's on the stock cam with GTP Stage 1 heads. Its a mild setup but great for a daily driver. about 320 to the wheels.

There are a couple of GTP grinds that are right at .600 lift.

I am running comp cam XR grind with 0.569/0.588 with 1.52 RR, CNC ported LT1 heads. Comp cams recommended not to use 1.6RR with this cam even with Trick Flow Heads.

well i put harland sharp 1.65 ratio rockers on my heads all im running is a hotcam i had them p&p and when they were on the flow bench i had the guy that was porting my heads check the retainer to guide clearence at max lift which was .621 when the retainer hit the valve guide if you wanna go any higher than that you have to machine the valve guides down or go with .100 longer valves now on the piston to valve clearence i have no clue i ran the 1.65 rockers to get me closer in the area where my heads were flowing and before you ask why i ran such a small cam i live in cali and wanted to pass smog with no problems
