Considering Porting Intake, Need Opinions
I have considered porting my intake in the future but wanted to know how much hp I can pick up by doing so.
I have a more performance 425hp kit installed which includes stage III Cnc'd heads and a hotcam with 1.6 RRs.
Would I be better off just port matching a LT4 intake?

If you end up deciding to do it, maybe you can send it with my Heads and intake in January.

Several dealers I've contacted (SDPC, Pace, More...) all say the LT4 manifold is discontinued. Is there a non-sheet metal alternative for 220/227 cc AFR LT4 heads? Can the stock LT1 be welded up and port matched without ridiculous effort?

I got my LT4 heads ported by Lloyd E. and when I got them back, I realized how much bigger the ports were compared to the stock LT4 intake's ports.
I thought I'd save a few $$ and not port it, but once I saw this, there was no way I
would consider putting that untouched intake on the ported heads.
By just looking at them side by side, you can see the power left on the table.
I just got the finished LE ported LT4 intake back today, and I am pleased with the work.
I was much more than just matching the port size...
There was material taken from behind the TB bore opening,
the runners were worked over to the roof where it looked as if there was a guiding ridge for the air to follow to stimulate the air along in a desired direction.
I am much more confident in my combonation now

How much did that run you Mike if you don't mind me asking?
I'm planning on getting my heads/intake done when I replace my bad lifter(s) and am shopping around for a good deal.

Just port your LT1 heads... Its not that hard, just takes some patience.
Im about to start opening mine up some more for the new motor... I originally gasket matched and blended it a while back, but now its being opened up for a 58mm TB and some smoothing in the plenum area/port entries.
Docspeed, MetalBeast, what happened to LS1-LT1.com?

I still look at LS1-LT1.com from time to time. I haven't really posted any due to me not having much time and the site coming along more slowly these days than before. I just tired of hearing myself speak and thought I would shut up and give everyone else to the opportunity to say something instead.

i have done a few intakes, my last one was the lt4 that was on my motor last year. more than just porting, welding and raising the roof. i picked up a few tenths the previous year when i went from a full ported lt1 intake to the lt4 intake. definitely something to be had, just my .02

What did that include? Was that a full street/strip port job or just port matching to the heads?

Port Pro's does them too.. He was gonna charge me $175 to include it in the package for my new motor... I have already done work to it before though, so I plan on just going further myself.
Im pretty much positive that he charges more if he's only doing the intake though.
