Hp Estimate
My friend has a 94Z and he keeps tellin me hes makin somewhere in the range od 330-350 at the wheels with only intake elbow K/N FIPK air foil Hooker LT's w/ ORY and edelbrock exhaust and now a pulley thanks to me is he acurate A4 with 3.73's. I just was coruious becasue i've got a 98 formula with only free mods and a ported TB and filter and i can kill him after 35 give or take. I'm just curious if he needs something like a new tranny or something because with all that i would think he would just smoke me.
We see stock LT1 F Bodys put down on average 190 rwhp on my Mustang Chassis Dyno. Stock LS1 F Bodys average 260 to 280. LS1 F Bodys with headers and a cat back are usually in the 310-315 range. Seems low, doesn't it? Its pretty cool when we build a car such as the twin turbo Corvette that we did, and it made 790 rwhp. We would of seen more, but the rear tires (35's, no less) kept breaking loose at 100 mph on the dyno! Bob

Do you guys stop the dyno at 3200 or something? Stock LT1's put down 245-260Rwhp. It doesn't take much to make an A4 LT1 make about 285. LT1's were underated from the factory and so were the LS1's. About 280-295 is somewhere around a stock LS1 should dyno. (I'm not positive, it could be more) Lol, I don't think a stock LS1 dynos 90 more Rwhp over an LT1. That's a joke...
P.S. If a stock LT1 puts down 190Rwhp, a 99-04 GT puts down 170. I bet that's good for a 13.9-14.1
I get flak everytime i post these numbers, but they are what they are. A good running stock LS1 can get into the high 12's, i don't ever remember an LT1 coming closer to that, which tells me the difference in horsepower between the two is really there. It's all in the cylinder heads, remember that when GM came out with the '97 C5 LS1, they stated these were the best heads they had ever produced. Bob
