Default doing rebuild! 355, 383, 396?

ok my stock lt1 just died, and i dont know what i want to do. i dont care about gas milage, emisions, but i do care about big HP, and reliability. i do want to be able to jump in it and go anywhere i want. it will b an occasional street car and a tough track car. i would like to get around 500 rwhp, and then put a 200-300 shot on it. i want to do this right, but money is a little bit of an issue, i would like to spend 5k or less, is it possible?

im open to any and all suggestions!

who do yall recomend? im in central tx.

True, but you'd be safest doing a 381(383 but only .20 over instead of .30) or a 350 bored .10 or .20 over(don't feel like doing the math LOL) because that will leave you with thicker cylinder walls so that means more block strength which I would want if I were expecting over 700-800hp. I would do a 377(stock bore, but stroker crank) if possible, or a 381 at most. Those 6 extra cubes don't do enough to be noticable.

I know the thicker cylinder walls are highly recommended for forced induction, I'm not 100% sure if it matters for nitrous, but I would imagine it would be stronger and you won't have to worry about anything flexing.

5K + 500rwhp = no way

A budget for a 500rwhp car will get pretty crazy fast.
