yeah no kidding this **** makes me sick, i feel like sometimes i drive a ricer because we lt1 guys catch so much hell from the ls1 guys. Speaking of sterotypes most of the ls1 guys that i have run into are dicks! because they think they have gods motor because they think nothing can, and never will touch it. This really pisses me off because we're all batting for the same team are we not?

Some of you ls1 guys need to have a little more respect, i dont care who you are if you dont think the LT1 was a badass motor FOR ITS TIME! you can kiss my ***. Because it was a baddass motor for its time, and should be respected for that. Like anything there is always going to be a newer and more advanced product.

Getting back on topic now, of course its worth modding my car is basically stock and it has humbled a few stock a4 ls1 car owners.

the lt1 has always been looked down upon by LS1 owners.. nothin new IMO. I used to love being the underdog when I had my LT1.

Underdog status is sweet. Some stupid ricer will always run you for money because they think you're slow.

That's sad. I never looked down on other camaros. I have a buddy with an 8 Sec LT1 Camaro. I've seen a vid of a LT1 Impala SS run 9's. That's not slow in my book.

Yes, it is.

When I was stock ( well, CAI and Tune, but LS1 breathe so well I call it stock ), I raced a 98 from 50mph, and we were dead even until about 90, then he got me by about 1 length @ 120.

I knew the kid, he was in my business class my first semester and he said " damn, I didnt know LT1's were that fast, for a second i thought you were going to beat me "

LS1's are sick engines, and I can't wait to buy my 02' SLP SS
But LT1's are no slouch. They are the motor that gave the 4th Gen such a great repuation for speed.

which body style do you like better?? the 93-97 or the 98-02?? for me personally for camaros, i like the 93-97 body style. i could never get over the oval headlights on the ls1 style. the rectangular headlights in the lt1 style looks so much more aggressive and better. looks wise a an lt1 ss looks better than an ls1 ss, and an lt1 z28 looks better than an ls1 z28.

i bought my 96 ss for $11k. of course i could have gotten an ls1 car for that money, but thats not the point. both cars can be made to go fast but you are essential stuck with the body style of a given year and that can't be changed.

I built my 96 LT1 and I love the damn thing. LT1 is a SBC and chevys are made to run so do some research about the SBC and go from there.

I got an idea, let's all bring back a thread that was finished in March! That would be awesome.

I'll just say, I am fairly new to the "later" model Camaro scene. I was in the market for either motor, and got the typical "Dude get an LS1" Well, I'll just say, drove em both.....HARD.....and bought an LT1. NO regrets. LS1's obviosly need to be respected, but as someone already said. Deeper pockets ALWAYS win. Nuf Said.

LT1's are cheap now. I personally think it's dumb as hell to modify and race a car your making payments on...and even dumber if its your primary form of transportation. I bought my LS1 car for $13,300 and I'm making payments on it, it's a lot nicer than the LT1 camaros, so I use it for a daily driver.

I sold both my older cars and paid $4,000 cash for my LT1 Camaro, have $1200 in mods...and now my LT1 is faster than my LS1 for well under half the cost I wont even spend the money for an aftermarket lid for my LS1, it's staying stock and the LT1 is getting the mods.

depends on how serious you want to get with the motor. That aluminum block ls1 can only take you so far. buy that lt1 iron block and you can take that thing just about anywhere you want to go. Both are badass tho.
