Best OIL for the LT1
I used the search function but to no avail, (only info for LS1). I'm currently using Royal Purple 10w-30, and the more I read on this site about oil, the more I hear about German Castrol 0w-30 being the best and M1 and Royal Purple far behind. So is the GC the best oil the run year long. Thanks

I'm not much a fan of Penzoil.
if the synthetic route I recommend Mobil 1. Now 5w30, and 10w30 are just fine but realize the formula anymore is on the thinner side and more or less resembles a thich 20weight. the 0w40 and 5w40 stuff from Mobil is found to work really well. I think the best in terms of wear numbers is the german made castrol 0w30

That forum is the best place to learn about oils and oil filters.

I have ran Amsoil 100% synthetic in my truck forever. The bird is almost through and I am breaking it in on 30wt for about 3000 miles and then I guess go ahead and put amsoil in it. This is my second lt1 the first I had in an s-10 and ran the amsoil in it. Two optis, and two intake gasket sets later it has 220,000 and the bottom end is still quiet. Most all modern day oil is good stuff. It all has to meet sae and api requirements. So as long as you change it frequently you should be ok. I have seen a lot of nasty pennzoil ran engines though through the shop. It could just also be people not changing oil though.
