Red97Z, I don't see tuning in your sig, if you haven't gotten at least a mailoder tune that has to be a priority. If you do have tuning what did the tuner tune it for?
Everyone likes to talk about how aluminum "allows"(more like requires) more compression than iron and often say one full point, the iron head LT1s are 10:1 bone stock and tuned to run 87 octane, I fully believe an aluminum head motor could easily run well up to 11:1 depending on cam and tune on 87 octane. Now before you say something stupid like the octane is the reason for the high HP rating on the aluminum head motors it may be a part of it BUT the big thing was that motor was put in a heavier car and was much better matched to that car than an f-body motor is, it is also rated at a higher peak torque at a lower rpm even though it has less compression and 87 octane tuning. The guys that have pushed the bolton b-bodies have topped the 300rwhp mark so don't mistake it for detuned.
