Best way not to break manifold bolts?
Doing long tubes, my Y pipe has been off before when the converter went in, none of those bolts broke. Any thing I can do so I dont break any bolts off in the head? Will soakig them in rust eater help?

Spray the hell out of them the night before with penetrant, I prefer pb blaster. Then spray them again in the morning. Also apply pressure on them smoothly, don't go banging on the wrench with a hammer to break them loose.
At a muffler shop we did manifold jobs alot, and if the PB blaster didnt do it we would heat up the bolt and turn it out slow. But I dunno if you have a torch at the house of Neil

The correct way is to get the exhaust bolts hot (or atleast warm) trust me.... either they will strip the threads or break when you try and take them out when they are cold. You could get lucky and not have a problem but from my experiences I personally would take out any kind of exhaust bolt hot.
hey if i were u neil i would replace the header bolts and get some allen heads bolts.
SO much damn easier to tighten and get too... kinda hard in some placess to put a socket too...
i had to do that for my driver side rear header bolt.
