Default hotcam install misfire codes

just got the hotcam installed getting misfire codes on a couple of cyliders. any fixes other than plugs and wires. Idle is very rough. I'm gonna get a tune but I dont want to cover up a legit problem.

Could be out of timing, the computer compensates for timing, but only so much. What else do you have done to it?

ok I have the K&n fipk, hotcam 1.6 rr's lt4 valve springs, long tubes,lt4km and y pipe, I have a high flow muffler welded into the stock pipes. Not my idea It was like that when I got it. After the cam install I had an open y pipe because the pipes from muffler wouldnt bolt to the y pipe. I had them welded together yesterday. After that I reset the computer. I drove around for a while and sure enough the engine light came back on. I took it to auto zone to have the codes pulled. I no longer have a misfire code but an EGR code. Is it possible y pipe noise caused the misfire code? Or did the autozone diagnostic machine just not pick it up?

What year car? I had a Custom Tune cause I removed all the AC, AIR System and other stuff, and I have no codes at all. Could be the Knock Sensor, or the Timing is off by a hair...

I idle at 600-650rpm. It is a smooth idle, just choppy cause of the Cam. It has no problems. The engine barely shakes. The whole inside shakes because of the exhaust, but that is different...

You NEED a tune, don't bother modding a computer controlled car unless you are prepared to do this with the mods. That cam needs different timing and a higher idle.
The computer can't really compensate for timing, it can pull timing if it detects what it thinks is detonation but that is about it.

I plan on getting the tune I just didnt know if my experiences were pretty much normal. It seems now the idle is a bit higher and a little smoother, I guess the pcm has tried to compensate some.
