Its easy and not that hard to do, you might need a ramair hood so you can clear the lid and it all fits. You dont need the hood for the ramair just to make sure it fits, I think it will work without it on a Camaro, but on a ta the hood looks to sit lower in the front so there is less room im geuss?

Ultra Z hood is what I have. You have to modify the lower air box for it to fit. I grinded all the ribs down and tapped 4 new holes on the cross mount bar where the fan shroud would sit. Snug as a bug.

Hey SRZ,
Where did you get the piece that covers the radiator, I know it is an ls1 style. IMO it looks much better than when people cut the lt1 style shroud to make the lid fit. Overall how much did the conversion cost you and where did you get all the parts from.

Thanks

Bought it used off of here for 150 bucks lower air box and lid (that's the lower part you are referring to). He had it pwd coated too. You can use any LS1 lid and just modify it to fit. Took me all of 2hrs to get it just right. Not hard at all w/ a dremel. I'd look on here in the FS section people are chucking their lids setups left and right.

Lower air box, lid, filter, smoothe bellow and relocate the IAT to the other side you'll see it on the box. Make sure to get a 99 lid or newer or you'll have to plug up another hole on the box if you don't. I also did the FRA cutting the box, the FTRA and super scoop underneathe for more air. But I also got all that used too. That's it.

I have a 95 z28 with no form of ram air. Is it still possible to convert to a lid with the right parts? Also, what is the advantage of the convertion?

I have done this mod to two other lt1's, (one trans am with vfn 4" hood and , one trans am STOCK hood!)

I have seen a car gain on the streets with this mod over a lt1 CAI so i know it helps out, although no dyno numbers to back it up.

The reason i did this is because if it can help a ls1 then it can help a lt1. I have a camaro so i didn't use the lt1 ram air that come on the ws6's.

ITS SUPER EASY I JUST TOOK A SHROUD FROM A STOCK T/A OR camaro AND BOUT THE SLP LID AND USED THE LS1 SMOOTH BELLOW FOR THE NECK AND I EVEN CUT THE SHROUD AND PUT THAT DEFLECTOR THAT THROWS UP ALL THE AIR TO THE LID

I have been thinking about doing this mod also, it definetly looks much cleaner than the LT1 Ram air box that I am running now. I have been trying to find out if the LS1 WS6 radiator shroud would work so that I could still actually keep my ram air hood functional? I don't have a factory WS6 hood I have an After market Suncoast hood if that makes any difference.

I know that I could use the FTRA but I would rather do the WS6 Radiator shroud if at all possible.

Default Question for my 97 Trans-Am WS6

I have a stock 97 trans am WS6 LT1
IF I was able to switch out to the LS1 lid from a 98+ WS6 w/ ram air
would my 97's ram air hood be functional with a 98+'s ram air box assembly?

Just let me know what steps I need to take Thanks.

Is this mod really worth it if you already have a WS6?

I never got an answer... if you put the 99+ style ram air intake box and lid into a 97 WS6 with ram air will the 97 ram air hood work with it?
