leaking oil

my 95 lt-1 is leaking oil and I took it to the shop and the man said it was my distributor...... could it just be my cap....

No, oil should not be IN the distributor. So if its coming from the cap your opti is fucked.
However, the oil is likely coming from the seal behind the distributor. The opti has a round protrusion that mates with the cam, this protrusion has a seal in the timing cover it seals to. Its common for that seal to wear out.

Yea, that's probably it bro. The only other place with oil near there would be the front Intake Gasket, if it blew. The back ones have a tendency to go out more..

its an lt1, leaking oil is normal operating procedure.

The distributor seal is IN the timing chain cover. Behind the distributor.
The dist. and water pump must be pulled to fix it.
Go get a dist seal, if you go to advance auto or autozone, you'll have to buy a complete gasket kit for the timing cover to get that seal.
