just out of curiosity, but what all is involve in swapping and lt1 for an ls1?? is it possible, or is it one of those things, i'd be better off just going to buy an ls1 car??

You'll need an Ls1 K member which is a swap in itself that would turn me off. Not sure if you would get into gauge function problems or not. Maybe just need the right cluster.

The rack and pinion system is different too. Look in the newest issue of gm high tech. They have a big article on a guy that did an ls1 swap in his 1995 Z. A lot of guys that do the swap change the whole dash for one out of an ls1 as well. Your best bet would be to buy a wrecked ls1 and get the parts you need off of that. It can be done though.

If you have a bad *** lt1 car, and find a cheap *** wrecked ls1 car, you could do the swap cheaply, and then sell off all the parts you don't use. You just need the tools and the space.

thanks guys, yeah i was just curious, just seeing if it was anything like swapping a 5.0 out for a 4.6 in the same terms on a mustang. i'm not gonna do it, as to i don't have the time and patience at the moment. but sometime down the road it might be a good project.

I dont see swapping a K-Member being all that bad, i just stripped mine apart, I took the front spindle's, springs, control arms, power steering unit, brake lines and brakes, everything and it took me a good 4 hours working pretty slowly and dealing with a lot of rust, im getting my control arms and k member blasted because of the rust so thats why i have mine stripped apart, but with enough patience you could have the swap done in a day, its easier to just buy the LS1's front suspension, its entire cradle with the spindles and everything because then you have the brakes that everyone loves. It's doable but why? Do a nice 383 stroker motor and you'll make more power for cheaper and easier time doing it

You could buy a whole ls1 car front suspension, K member, a-arms, struts, everything that comes out when you drop the motor from the bottom of the car, and bolt it right into the lt1 car, then swap computers.

not the same. You either need the complete ls1 fuel system, or I believe you can modify the lt1 system to work (I saw something like that somewhere) but I have no idea what needs to be done.

You also have to modify/swap something with the tranny bolts/bellhousing, radiator, gauges, wiring harnass, plus a few other things.

also the input shaft, in other words, unless you have a LS1 car that has been totalled and you have the time and patience to swap everything over, its better to just buy an LS1 car, or if you really want the LS1 power and LT1 looks then buy the LS1 car and do the front end conversion

i dont understand why you want to put an ls1 in there? your motor has every bit of potential the LS1 motor has... put a few grand into it and it'll have around 400 rwhp.
